Breakthrough bleed: Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding at the wrong time) is very common on birth control. It happens in about 1/3 of users. Its no big deal and usually self corrects over time. If you are not satisfied or it continues to happen then consider using a different birth control method. Hopefully Not: Sometimes, when you take pills to avoid a period it does to work. You may have to take 2 tablets a day for about 5 days to stop this bleeding. However, taking 2 tablets a day may increase side effect profile. Good Luck! ...Read more

Yes: It is very common to have severe reduction in bleeding volume when on the OCP. That is a major indication. Regarding the timing, try not taking any of the sugar pills for the next 3 months and see what happens. ...Read more
