Breakthrough Bleeding Antibiotics
How long does breakthrough bleeding caused by antibiotics last? I stopped antibiotics on feb 11 and have been bleeding since feb 11, so for 11 days
I am very skeptical: That breakthrough is caused by antibiotics. Let's say that would be REALLY low on the list. There are 100 better reasons for breakthrough bleeding, but by definition because it's "breakthrough" there's no rule for how long it last. If it persists into your next menstrual cycle check with your doctor; if not, can likely forget it. Good wishes. ...Read more

I just finished my antibiotics yesterday but I still have breakthrough bleeding. I am going on vacation in two days. How do I stop the break through?
Antibiotics?: Antibiotics are not used to treat breakthrough bleeding (btb). If you are taking a combination (estrogen/progestin) pill, you can try taking one pill twice daily for 5 to 7 days. The extra estrogen should stabilize the lining of your uterus. Definitely call your doctor to get his or her input. ...Read more

With every bc pill I have lots of breakthrough bleeding up to 2 weeks before period. This stops when on antibiotics any ideas what could be causing it?
Breakthrough bleed: Sounds like breakthrough bleeding which occurs when you have bleeding at unscheduled times while on the pill. Often things get back to normal the next cycle. If not then schedule a visit to discuss changing brands or changing birth control methods. This is very common. Other than being annoying it is not dangerous. Why not try a different birth control method since this keeps happening. ...Read more
I am having long term antibiotic and also taking contraceptive pills. I have breakthrough bleeding in between the cycle. Should I stop the pill?
Can being sick (coughing, sneezing, diarrhea)cause you to get breakthrough bleeding and cramps even if you've taken bc pills perfectly? (no antibiotics)
Any illness can alter your metabolism, but the most likely thing you have described would be diarrhea. Diarrhea could result in malabsorption of the pill, (not absorbing it properly) and be kind of like missing a pill.
That's not too likely, but if you would like to be really careful use a backup method of birth control this cycle, better safe than sorry. ...Read more
