If they are recurrent (> 4/hour), cause pelvic pressure or persistent pain, or increased mucousy vaginal discharge, get checked by your ob. Try to limit any activities that cause these contractions (intercourse, exercise, lifting, etc) & call your OB if any of these signs of preterm labor persist or worsen. Take care. ...Read more
35 weeks pregnant 2 CM dilated 80 effaced with pre-term labor scare at 30 weeks, am I more likely to go into labor in days or weeks?
Unpredictable: If you've had vaginal births in the past or preterm births in the past, then the likelihood of early delivery is greater, but I have also had patients get up to 4cm and just stay that way for weeks, delivering ultimately at term. It is somewhat unpredictable, but with your cervix as it is, you should be closely followed by your OB. No steroids needed at this point. NICU care if born early. ...Read more

30 weeks Pregnant -abdominal period cramping, Braxton hicks more than usual and gas that feels stuck?
May be preterm labor: Those regular contractions could be preterm labor. One should be checked out by her Ob-Gyn doctor. That may mean going to the hospital and staying in the Labor and Delivery ward to be monitored to see what is going on. Call you OB: Most OB docs and midwives have an answering service. Call your docs office even though it is Sunday and usually the service will pick up or the message will give further instructions.
