Doctor insights on:
Is name brand Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) XR better than the generic brands? I'm reading horror stories online about the generic brands.
Generic vs. brand: While generics are claimed to be the exact equivalent as brand name medications, individuals may respond better to trade name medications. However most patients tolerate the generics without problem. Since the generics are less expensive and usually have a lower co-pay, i would try it once. If it does not work as well as the brand, it will not take long to make that determination. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My pharmacy tells me 150 mg. Elavil (amitriptyline) (name brand) is not manufactured in the usa, is this true? Generic never worked as well.
Amitriptylene: Brand name Elavil (amitriptyline) was discontinued in the usa around 2003, and the remaining supplies sold until exhausted. Multiple companies, however, make generic amitriptylene -- including in 150mg dose. Your concerns about brand name vs generic are not uncommon, though. Sorry. Hopefully you and your doctor can find a regimen that helps you. Be well, . ...Read more
Dr. Tom heston faafp, fasnc, facnm is it ok to take wellbutrin, pristiq, and savella (milnacipran) together?
I am not Dr Heston, : And in my opinion, that combination is very good as long as those medications work together to relieve the symptoms of depression, anxiety and chronic pain. When the illness is severe enough, combining several agents is more effective, causes less side effects, although it can be more costly and cumbersome to maintain the treatment. Hope this answer to your question while awaiting for dr heston's. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

I bought generic clonazopam from india call oail 2mg. Manufactured by terrace, marketed by cyril. Are these real?
Hard to tell: It is hard to tell whether a medicine is a real brand name medicine, an equivalent generic, a counterfeit of brand name medicine, a generic that doesn't have the exact same medicine as the original, a counterfeit of a generic, etc..., when it is coming from a developing country. Such medicines, we hope, are closely inspected for authenticity if they are sold in american pharmacies. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Saw new md(insurance change). Gave her med records w/former md's dx&tx.New md was rude & condescending to me d/t former md's dx! what's your take on this?
Not sure, but...: Not sure about all that, but a patient should always make a copy of her medical records if she has them. Then, she can give just the copy to her new doctor. If she and the new doctor are not a good match, she can try another doctor and give the second doctor a copy of her records (while always keeping the originals). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is cortical dysrythemia (as eeg) curable with homeopathy (bufo rana30, oenanthe crocata-3x)? Please advise!
Hard to know: Without knowing your case, I cannot say how well those remedies (Bufo rana & Oenanthe crocata) apply to you. Hopefully you're working with a professional homeopath who has taken your case well and has prescribed accordingly. In general, homeopathic treatment has been known to help seizures -- but remedies are prescribed for the individual experiencing symptoms, not pathologic diagnosis alone. ...Read more
