Hi,there is chemical imbalance in my brain and problem is with EEG, doctor recommend to have Levetiracetam and encorate-chrono. what does it mean?

Keppra (levetiracetam): It means you are having a bit of seizure activity . You need to build up gradually the dose of Keppra (levetiracetam). If you are having issues with your temper while taking Keppra (levetiracetam) you may need to take a vitamin supplement with 10-25 mg of B6. See what else your neurologist wants to do after a few weeks . Best wishes to you. ...Read more

What electrical problems of brain that cause poor sleep. Could it be detected by an EEG ordered by doctor.what could be the type of treatment?

What electrical problems of brain that cause poor sleep. Could it be detected by an EEG ordered by doctor.what could be the type of treatment?

Poor sleep & brain: Sometimes poor sleep is driven by brain activity. This often occurs with stimulants, like caffeine and amphetamines. Although there is altered brain activity with certain medications, this activity is not normally something that can be measured. An EEG would generally not help to diagnose causes of abnormal sleep. The one exception is when seizures occur during sleep. ...Read more

I had an eeg, following it I got extremely hot and it felt like my brain got burned hard to function ever since, had to take leave from work how to tel damage?

Strange: An eeg is a study of electrical wave patterns of the brain. The electrodes do not transmit any energy or electrical waves, it only records the electrical waveforms generated by your brain. Best to follow up with your neurologist. ...Read more

Does EEG on brain show if i had a stroke?

Does EEG on brain show if i had a stroke?

Depends: A large stroke that involves the outer layer of the brain (cortex) can cause enough depression of the electrical activity that this will be detectable on an eeg. Due to the somewhat limited space resolution (think that there are only about 10 electrodes per head side or so) a very small amount of no functioning brain tissue (stroke) is difficult to detect. An eeg is not the test of choice for this. ...Read more
