After major stroke that affected 3 lobes on left brain due to 100% blockage of coroided how will this effect my life expectancy?
Depends: Carotid arterial disease is a strong marker for heart disease. Your life expectancy will depend on the co-morbid disease you have: especially in your heart, which should be evaluated after you've sufficiently recovered from your stroke. Good luck, my friend. ...Read more

How is it ok if u have a reg stress tst its normal but u can still be walking around with blockage or clot and not know it are there symptoms?
A regular stress test is about 60-70% accurate at picking up blockages. The good news is, though, that it is pretty good at picking severe blockages, especially if >1 artery is blocked. As to a "clot" -- clots cause "Heart Attacks" --not subtle. A 41 yo woman with a normal stress test is unlikely to have significant blockage.

In cad, when is blockage of an artery large enough that compensation is insufficient, and symptoms may present?
Time: The shortest answer here is that it depends on how long the blockage has been present. If it slowly developes over time then the heart has the ability to develop collateral flow through other vessels...Thus making up for the trouble. However if the blockage developes quickly...There is no chance to compensate. ...Read more

Had ecoli uti, took AB, symptoms didnt go away, got retested @ 24 days and ecoli gone, now have morganella morganii 10^8cfu. no stones. US no blockage?
Morganella: This bacteria can be resistant to the major groups of antibiotics and that could help explain its presence. The important question is -- 'is it causing disease'? This question would be answered by whether you have symptoms or not, and whether there are markers of infection in your urine test (like increased WBCs). Hopefully indeed there is nothing wrong with your urinary tract. Talk with doctor. ...Read more
Hi there. I went to the er for bronchitis symptoms- they found a right branch blockage but acted as if it was no big deal. Blood work (whatever they t?
Bronchial disease: Well sometimes in the ER their attitude is more focused on the emergencies, and they didn't see this as an emergency. There is a list of things that could cause this problem - and perhaps they figured it out. BUT I would definitely follow this up with your primary doctor, and most likely a lung doctor. Those docs have the tools to follow you (i.e. bronchoscopy) and make sure you pull through OK. ...Read more

Incomplete bowel obstruction ? Feels like a blockage or the colon closes after halfway through the bowel. No other symptoms, stool is fine.
Constipation?: It sounds like you have the feeling of incomplete stool evacuation during a bowel movement. A bowel obstruction usually is a mechanical obstruction on the intestine caused by scar tissue from previous operations, hernias, masses in the intestine, ect. If constipated i recommend increasing the fiber and water in your diet, and add a stool softener such as colace (docusate sodium). If symptoms continue, see a md. ...Read more

Bilateral asymmetric hydronephrosis. No blockage on CT or nuclear scan. Symptoms of prolapse, incontinence, slow flow. Doc wants UPJO surgery. Agree?
Depends on Uroflow: For my patients, whether I recommend UPJ valve surgery or not is dependent on the results of the UroFlow studies that I have all Urologists perform on patients with hydronephrosis (even if it's treated). Without knowing the UroFlow results (numbers), it's hard for me to guide you as to whether I agree or disagree with the Urologists' recommendation. Your symptoms suggest UPJO but not its severity. ...Read more
Is adenoidectomy indicated with 99% blockage but no congestion/rhinits symptoms (can breathe through nose but does mouth breathe while sleeping)?
Yes: If the radiological diagnosis is correct, it is hard to believe a child can breathe properly. Rhinitis or congestion of the nose is a nasal problem. Hypertrophic (enlargement) of the adenoids in the back of the nose can lead to two major problems, recurrent ear problems and snoring or even sleep disorder. Yes, adenoidectomy, in my opinion, is indicated. ...Read more
I seem to have multiple symptoms including fever, soreness, sinus blockage, and sore throat. Last night i also had severe night sweat. Diagnosis?
Cannot diagnose: Based on the things you have said, this is probably a self-limiting illness, but would need far more history, physical exam and perhaps some lab tests to tell you exactly what is going on. If the night sweats keep up, write down all times and symptoms and take them with you to see your pcp and get evaluated. Good luck and feel better soon. ...Read more
I have excrutiating pain in my jaw in front of my ear and have swollen glands behind my ear and neck. The pain seems worse after eating. Could this be a parotid salivary gland blockage or cyst? I don't have a fever or any other symptoms and haven't had a
Sialadenitis: The history is indeed suspicious for parotid infection (parotitis) and/or stone in the parotid duct, but it is not clear exactly what is going on. Other possibilities include neck abscess or lymphadenitis. All of these are pretty high acuity problems that warrant prescription medication treatment. I would consider ENT evaluation, or see your primary. If it's bad, er evaluation is appropriate. ...Read more
