How much does a bracing cost for the scoliosis?

How much does a bracing cost for the scoliosis?

Varies: It varies in part based upon the area of the country, the materials involved, and also based upon how much the company that produces the brace charges. In our area, I believe a "typical" scoliosis brace is in the 3500 dollar range for an adolescent with a progressive scoliosis curve in whom we are trying to halt progression so surgery won't be needed. Good question. ...Read more

My daughter pt eval said her tibias were bowed and pt probably won't help but bracing will. Ortho won't see her. What does this mean and what do we do?

Why not?: Why won't ortho see her? If there's an insurance issue, then fix it. If it's just going to be awhile, talk to your pediatrician to see if that's an acceptable time to wait. The pt cannot order the braces, but somebody has to offer an expert opinion. If the ortho feels it doesn't need to be braced, then they may be right. A little bowing is normal in infants, but not older children. ...Read more

If the pain has not improved with conservative measures surgery may be a good option. ...Read more

After I get my cast of for grade 3 ankle sprain will I just be able to walk normally without any other bracing? Cast on for 2-3 weeks

Perhaps not: After 3 weeks in a cast your ankle will be stiff and may take a few days to move well. It takes 6 weeks to get 90% strength to your healing ligaments, longer if you have nicotine or anti-inflammatory medications in your blood. Relatively flat shoes, and may need a brace.

I had an ingrown toenail and tried the nail bracing technique to life it and relieve the pressure. Now I have discoloration in the corner of my toe.

Separation anxiety.: Discoloring of the nail can be caused by several things. Your history narrows the possibilities. An examination would simplify getting to the real problem. Both can occur when the plate is separated from the underlying bed. ...Read more
