How long can plastic retainers last? I have had my braces off for several years now. Also, can they also any respiratory issues?

That's dangerous!: You need to get that off ASAP. You could have all kinds of problems hiding under there. About the cost, I would think any self respecting orthodontist would remove it at little or no charge once you sign a release that he/she is not responsible for any mishap in removing it. I only have an Essix retainer.. So can I get a Hawley retainer and then have my dentist/ortho adjust the wire so my tooth goes back into its place? Or can my Essix retainer be tightened? I wouldnt think so because of its plastic nature. I had braces and I
No Essix: Your Essix cannot be used for othodontic tooth movement. If you have tooth movement, your Essix would have to be remade. Or your dentist might be able to attach a tooth to the Hawley. ...Read more
