Bp Reading Go High After Eating
Took BP before eating high carb meal 127/85 pulse 80, then stood for 12mins. Bp was 108/85 pulse 146 does this suggest postprandial hypotension?
Rapid heart rhythm: Your b p dropped significantly after standing but the pulse rate of 146 was very rapid. I wonder if this was accurate. We're you lightheaded when your b p dropped? If not, then it is not problematic. A heart rate of 146 would be problematic. Double check your pulse to be sure and see how long it takes to return to normal. Discussion with your physician is recommended. ...Read more
A1c 4.9 while on low carb diet passed glucose tolerance test go to bed sugars at 100 or lower wake up 8 hrs later sugar 110 or so why & am i prediabet?
We're all Prediabeti: As we grow older, we all tend to become Insulin resistant to some degree or other. Consequently, our sugars tend to rise, along with our insulin. Insulin is the hormone that causes sugar to enter our cells, where the excess is stored as fat. I recommend a low carb diet to everyone, and also recommend that just about everyone over 30 will benefit from metformin (an Insulin receptor sensitizer). ...Read more

What should I do for low blood sugar? Sugar was 67 morning fasting about 8 am, and 84 2hrs after dinner about 9 pm.
4 reactive hypoglyce: Eat only meat or fish or cheese or eggs or poultry and low starch veggies, drink only water. In other words avoid all carbs, carbs will only briefly raise your sugar levels and then your Insulin levels. The fats in the meat or fish or cheese or eggs or poultry will act like a "log on your metabolic fire" to keep your blood sugar stable for hours without raising insulin. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Gluc level 65 one hour after eating salad w/croutons, salmon, & caramel apple. Not diabetic (I think). Is this LOW gluc level unusual? Problematic?
Not a problem: Hi. We've got to stop meeting like this! ;-) No, that glucose is fine and not low. In a person who takes insulin, we'd be getting concerned, because injected insulin will lower sugar whether the patient needs sugar lowered further or not. But your pancreas will automatically regulate insulin release to keep sugar normal. Glucoses in the 60s and 50s are seen all the time in healthy non-diabetics. ...Read more
How high can blood sugar go 45 min after an average meal to stay in the normal range when my fasting blood sugar and long term blood sugar are low?
About 140: Any blood sugar at any time over 200 (two episodes) is diagnosed as Diabetes. Normal level for fasting is under 100. There is no standard, per se, for 45 minutes after an "average meal," but I would not like to see the number higher than the normals for a glucose tolerance test for sure. Glucose tolerance test is "normal" under 140. ...Read more

Blood pressure : Blood pressure readings give two numbers. The higher number is systolic. The lower number is diastolic. Systolic is when the heart is contracting/pumping blood. Diastolic is during the time the heart is relaxing. Hi readings for either one is considered abnormal and should be treated if persistent. Could be: First of all, you are NOT a "diabetic." You have diabetes. Next, I do not know how old you are or what meds you are taking. Also, don't know if you have diabetes related complications such as hypoglycemia and heart disease. We try to keep the 2 hour after eating blood glucose levels below 140 mg/dL if possible. Some believe that less than 180 is also OK. Ask your doctor for clarification. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
