If : If this is persistent, it should be evaluated by an otolaryngologist (ENT) with an audiogram (hearing test). The most common cause of tinnitus is hearing loss--many times the loss is not detected. Many feel that a certain level of tinnitus may be physiologic and the reaction to the sounds may make the brain feel like it needs to be dealt with so it cannot be ignored. The persistent dizziness should also be checked. The dizziness and tinnitus together can be due to an inner ear problem and should be checked by your ent. ...Read more

I went to the doctors this morning and had my ear cleaned. Now my ear feels plugged and everything is echoing. Is that normal?

Cerumen impaction: It is common to have your ear cleaned and feel a fullness or blocked sensation for hours. This could be the result of the general inflammation from the cleaning. There could be a small amount of water in the ear canal. If the sensation persists beyond three days, have it rechecked. It is possible that the ear was not fully cleaned and there still is residual debris or cerumen in the ear canal. ...Read more

Ans: From your statement seems like this has been going on for a while. Have you been hydrating? Any head trauma? The blurry vision is concerning. Better start over with a good history and exam and lab work and diagnostic testing ...Read more

Your c/o pressure: Versus pain is unusual, but consistent with your history of multiple scoliosis regarding your vision. Make sure you are seen by an ophthalmologist when this happens, or worked up by a neuro ophthalmologist, who you can folllow up with for management. You may need to get a hearing test by an ENT if this persists, as ms can affect any neural tissue and cause problems. Discuss this with your neuro dr. ...Read more

My ears became very sensitive to noise. Air pressure in a moving car with windows down bothers my ears and I can't stand it. What's wrong with me?

Pressure on ear drum: This can happen for a few different reasons. The problem could be originating in your brain, such as in people who experience this as part of a migraine headache syndrome. More likely, it is a problem with pressure in the inner ear which can occur with allergies, or eustachian tube dysfunction. It can also happen when changing elevations quickly, like driving up or down a mountain. ...Read more

Pain, stress: That is fast but well below the maximal heart rate a 31 year-old woman will normally have during exercise. Similarly, it's normal for significant pain or stress to cause a spike in blood pressure and heart rate (you may be familiar with the fight or flight response), and as long as it return to normal when at rest, then this is a perfectly natural and healthy response. ...Read more

Not sure: You should not have root canal therapy unless there is a definitive diagnosis and the specific tooth can be identified. You may have atypical facial pain and i would suggest seeing someone who specializes or has extensive experience in treating oral-facial pain disorders. ...Read more

I suffer from inner ear trouble and now and then it flares up and makes my head feel lighthed and dizzy. What should ido?

Try vestibular PT: This would certainly warrant treatment from an ENT or your primary care doctor, but particularly if the symptoms worsen first you want to get a definitive diagnosis of the cause of your vertigo or inner ear trouble. Vestibular pt is a branch of physical therapy where you can be taught specific maneuvers to help alleviate the dizziness and either of the above can refer you to a good one. ...Read more

What is wrong with my ears electronics hurt my ear now? A weak ago i had lots of wax in my ears the doctor cleaned out all the wax i went home now when its quiet i hear a high pitched sound from the television and when its quiet i hear a hissing sound my

If : If the doctors cleaned a large amount of wax out of your ears, you may simply be hearing things you couldn't hear with your ears plugged. I'm not sure what you mean by your ears being sensitive to electronics. If you mean you are hearing more hissing and high pitched sounds, it could just mean you can hear better. If you mean wearing ear buds and earphones hurts, it may be that your ear cartilage is sore from using electronics too much. Sometimes the ear canals can get bruised cleaning wax out of the ears, and that could cause discomfort as well. If the problem is slowly improving, i would wait. If getting worse, return to your doctor, or an ear doctor to have it checked out. ...Read more

I got my right ear flushed yesterday. I can hear out of the ear clear but I feel a slight pressure and pain is that normal?

Not unusual: It's not very unusual as there may be slight trauma or irritation of both the ear canal and the ear drum after irrigation. Usually a few passes are needed before cerumen is dislodged and removed completely. If the discomfort doesn't gradually lessen or if it worsens, have your ear canal and ear drum examined. ...Read more
