Bp High In Morning
I am 50 years old with high bp. Yesterday morning I checked my sugar level and it showed fasting 121. Now I am nervous. Should I take medicine? Help!
Diabetic?: Are you diabetic, on insulin? Are you taking an oral hypoglycemic agent? Are you overweight? Any of these situations could be related to high fasting glucose, and your doctor would want to work with you on this over time to reduce it. I'm not sure which medicine you're asking about taking. If hypertensive you may need medicine for this. Please ask your doctor about your blood sugar worries. ...Read more

Hi, my husband takes his high pressure pill in the morning, what should he do if he forgot then remembered late in the afternoon? Thx.
OK to take it: If he takes one pill a day, he should take it in the afternoon. If he forgets for a whole day, he should just resume his regular medicine regimen in the morning. Blood pressure management is a long-term affair and is unlikely to be seriously compromised by missing a single day. ...Read more

2-3 times a year I wake up in the morning to high amounts of pain in my lower back. Typically it goes away after a week. I am a 25yr old male.
Every morning after waking up I get brown coloured cough. I have a little high b.p 146/88 & tonight my face is a little puffed. Feeling worried! Help?
Get seen: A cough for more than 3-5 days, could be due to bronchitis from a bacteria. See a doc. If you are taking any cough meds, they may be raising your blood pressure (and they don't work anyway and can make you worse). Stop them. If you have trouble breathing, fever over 102, or vomiting, go to an ER. Otherwise see your doc soon to be checked. See http://tinyurl. Com/osmaxzo ...Read more
Yes,: Fasting blood sugar of 113mg/dl implies that you have pre-diabetes, or impaired glucose tolerance. Your liver is making too much glucose overnight when you are fasting. You can correct this with a low glycemic index diet, avoiding processed foods--leading to weight loss. Increasing exercise will also help to lower blood sugar as well as weight. ...Read more

Enters brain: When taking this med on a regular basis it will build a bit in your system & take longer to be removed. Benedryl does enter the brain & interfere with messages between brain cells. My pressure is high during early morning 140/105, during the other part of the day it's normal, what could be the reason please advise?
Maybe a dosing issue: If your on BP meds you need an evening dose to protect you over night and thru the "golden hrs" where a great deal of pts have heartattacks and srokes. Your morning meds drop the daytime BP but by end of day and into next am your BP rebounds. Twice daily BP rx will fix this. ...Read more

My ovulation predictor came out peak fertility on friday, high fertility yesterday this morning it was still high, would still be high fert? Cd 21/33
Can't say: Terms like 'peak fertility' and 'high fertility' are misleading because women are not really 'fertile' for 3-or-4 days. Intercourse 1-2 days before ovulation and the day of ovulation is often successful because of how long the sperm stay alive and active, not because the woman is really fertile all those days. ...Read more
Aldosterone was 2 ng/dL (fasted, early morning, upright) is this normal or low? Does it warrant further testing? Cortisol was high/normal 22.2 mcg/dL
More history: I don't know much about your history or what has caused you to have this testing in the first place so I won't be of much help, BUT the aldosterone level is low and may warrant further testing for Cushing's syndrome, 17-alpha-hydroxylase deficiency, Liddle's syndrome, ectopic ACTH syndrome, or mutations of your mineralcorticoid receptors. You need to talk to your doctor for more direction. ...Read more

Could low estrogen be a cause of high morning cortisol (40)? How bad is a morning cortisol of 40?
No: Hi. No, low estrogen does not cause high AM cortisol. Estrogen stimulates cortisol binding globulin (CBG) and thus total cortisol (free cortisol remaining normal). Low estrogen would predictably cause lower cortisol. If CBG is constitutively elevated, total serum cortisol is elevated. An AM cortisol of 40 is quite abnormal. Does your doc suspect Cushing's? Do urine cortisol and dex suppression. ...Read more
Why is my fasting blood sugar so high in the morning even though I ate low carbb the night before?
High AM glucose: The dawn rise of glucose (g) is part of the body's "getting ready for the day. It does this by secreting more cortisol and growth hormone. The liver also releases g "getting ready for the day, raising g. People on on Insulin (i) can time its dose to peak closer to the morning hours. Those not on I can take metformin to lower the levels of g secreted by liver. These actions can reduce your high g. ...Read more
