Babies : Babies typically start moving around between 16-24 weeks. If your baby was moving, then it is crucial you let your doctor know if there is a decrease in baby movement activity. It is better to be safe than sorry. Also, going forward, keep a log of baby kicks per day and document them. This is a great way to note any changes in activity. ...Read more

Can the routine fetal anatomy ultrasound be performed earlier than the standard 18-20 weeks? Is 15-16 weeks way too early to have this done?

Can the routine fetal anatomy ultrasound be performed earlier than the standard 18-20 weeks? Is 15-16 weeks way too early to have this done?

It can - but limited: The future trend will be to perform anatomical fetal surveys in the late first trimester (14 weeks) via transvaginal sonography. Expert centers in europe are already doing this successfully. In the U.S. Most practices perform the anatomy scan at 18-20 weeks to allow for pregnancy termination in case of serious anomalies. From an imaging standpoint, the optimal time is 24-28 weeks. ...Read more

What does white spot in babies stomach mean during 20 weeks ultrasound.?

What does white spot in babies stomach mean during 20 weeks ultrasound.?

Usually nothing.: Echogenic material in the fetal stomach is sometimes seen in prenatal ultrasound, but is usually of no clinical significance. This may be swallowed vernix caseosa, desquamed epithelial clumps, or metabolic products of subchorionic blood after a hemorrhagic episode. In the latter case, the fetal gastric debris is still not a problem in and of itself, rather a marker of a previously existing problem. ...Read more

Hi my ultrasound photo (20 weeks) shows an FL/BPD of 67% is this okay? The doctor and ultrasound tech said everything is normal.

Should be ok: There are different charts which show normals for different weeks of gestation. It is also important to look at all of the ratios and measurements to determine if there are any indicators of a problem. If the the doctor and US tech are saying that your ratios are normal, I would believe them. Otherwise, go and have a second opinion to ease your mind. ...Read more

Im 20 weeks 6 days pregnant my ultrasound result shows oligohydramnios fetal ascites is there anyway i can save my baby?

Diagnosis : Obviously both of those are negative signs at this gestational age. If not done already, asked to be referred to a perinatologist for a evaluation. TORCH blood testing, a fetal echocardiogram and possibly an amniocentesis should be done. Fetal DNA sequencing can be done from maternal blood in some cases. ...Read more
