Boy Ultrasound At 20 Weeks
18 to 22 weeks: It means it could be off by 2 weeks. It could be 18 weeks or it could be 22 weeks or anywhere in between. It is just a comment on the accuracy of the ultrasound. The ultrasound is usually quite accurate, but it does have a range and the accurate within 2 weeks is just commenting on that. If you combine that with your last period you should be quite accurate. ...Read more
An ultraound, also known as a sonogram, is a painless and relatively inexpensive imaging test that utilizes sound waves instead of ionizing radiation. There are no side effects. Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more

Babies : Babies typically start moving around between 16-24 weeks. If your baby was moving, then it is crucial you let your doctor know if there is a decrease in baby movement activity. How accurate is ultrasound done at 20 weeks for gender determination of fetus. Is obstretics ultrasound with same accuracy. Same question for 22 wks?
Depends.: My rule has always been: don't guess! if the fetus is in a poor position for viewing the genitals then no determination can be made. At 20 weeks, if the genital region is visible there is a very high level of accuracy for gender determination. It all depends on the skill of the person doing the scan. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I tested positive for neural tube defect (I'm 20 weeks). I had my level 2 ultrasound and everything is normal. Should I still be worried?
Yes: Vigilant is a better term. All tests have a certain propensity for false positive and false negative results. While the ultrasound is reassuring, don't let it bring down your guard. Remember to communicate the findings with staff at the hospital/delivery environment as well as to the NICU/well-baby staff as relevant. A focused post-partum physical exam (baby) is important. ...Read more
At 20 weeks they did a ultrasound and the measurements was ok... Now at 31 weeks my belly is really small.. My baby moves alot.. Why so small?
Baby growth?: If you are saying your belly seems small compared to others at 31 weeks, then i would reassure you & say that appearances vary greatly at this point in pregnancy, depending on body shapes & sizes. Do not compare yourself to others. If you are saying that the baby is measuring small on a repeat ultrasound, there are numerous reasons for growth issues & i would suggest discuss this with your doctor. ...Read more
Usually nothing.: Echogenic material in the fetal stomach is sometimes seen in prenatal ultrasound, but is usually of no clinical significance. This may be swallowed vernix caseosa, desquamed epithelial clumps, or metabolic products of subchorionic blood after a hemorrhagic episode. In the latter case, the fetal gastric debris is still not a problem in and of itself, rather a marker of a previously existing problem. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hi my ultrasound photo (20 weeks) shows an FL/BPD of 67% is this okay? The doctor and ultrasound tech said everything is normal.
Should be ok: There are different charts which show normals for different weeks of gestation. It is also important to look at all of the ratios and measurements to determine if there are any indicators of a problem. If the the doctor and US tech are saying that your ratios are normal, I would believe them. Otherwise, go and have a second opinion to ease your mind. ...Read more
