I am always full but feel no urge for a bowel movement, and only produce small movements when I do?
Water & fiber: You should drink 8-10 full glasses of water each day, and more if you sweat during the day. Mild dehydration is under-appreciated as the cause of constipation. Next, make sure you increase your intake of natural fruit & vegetable fibers. If this still doesn't work, talk to you doctor about starting an over-the-counter stool softener or glycerin suppository. Rarely intestinal tumors cause this. ...Read more

It depends : If blood in the stoll is red, it may be from a hemorrhoid. This needs to be evaluated and treated, but is fairly common. If the blood or stool is darker (black) and has a 'tar-like' appearance, it is more indicative of a bleed in the upper areas of the GI tract. This is more significant and needs more prompt evaluation and treatment. ...Read more

I feel a lot of pressure on my bottom! aneed to habe a bowel movement, but I go and only a small amount comes out. And the urge and pressure is still there!?
Might eating very small amounts throughout the day cause very few bowel movements or constipation?
Depends: As long as u include fruits, veggies & fiber it should help. Also u must remain well hydrated. The lower bowel or colon reabsorbs fluid from the toll & if ur body says hey i need water, the colon is going 2 respond by extracting more water & make u more constipated. Well hydrated can b seen in ur urine. If it is dark u need water, hydrate until almost clear. Dietitian consult would b a good idea. ...Read more
Have had mucousy bowel movements for a week. Should i be concerned? Small ones often and with some stomache pain.
IBS...: Mucousy bowel movements associated with cramps are frequently a sign of irritable bowel syndrome (ibs). In the absence of any other symptoms there is probably no reason for concern. However, if you have fever, chills, night sweats, blood in the stools nausea, vomiting or just don't feel well then see your doctor. Good luck! ...Read more
Im having pain passing bowel movements (some small amounts of blood normal colour)will psyllium husk help? what can I do?
Should I be concerned if occasionally when I have a bowel movement( mine are shaped like balls) it looks like a very thin tail attached to one.
Constipated?: Small hard bowel movements, (Bristol 1 stools) are a sign of mild constipation, you should probably increase your fiber and water intake. If the "tail" looks wormlike this could be a sign of a tapeworm. If you have abdominal pain or recent unintentional weight loss, you should see your GP, as this combined with stool changes can be a sign of colon cancer. ...Read more

I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy on August 27. Have been recently having bowel issues and haven't had a bowel movement in 5 days(that was a small ). ?
Unrelated : Four months later it is unlikely that this is related to the hysterectomy unless you have some post-op adhesions which could cause a partial obstruction. That would usually cause some pain too. Try starting with increased fluids and fiber. Many GI doctors recommend Miralax (polyethylene glycol). If this doesn't help, talk to your primary care provider. ...Read more
