This empties into the colon or large intestine (about 5 feet), which then becomes the sigmoid colon, rectum and out the anus. So, every morsel eaten ...Read more
When should I take align, Morning or night? I want to have a bowel movement every morning when I wake up. Are side effects strong? I'm scared to start
Align: Align is not a laxative and may not fulfill your goal of having a bowel movement every morning. There is no specific time of the day recommended, but for the ease of use would recommend in am. Please refer to aligngi.com. Gas and bloating are the most common side effects experienced with probiotics in general. ...Read more
Recently stomach upset/gas, thin and little stools if any (after lunch).
*1 bowel movement every morning after drinks — stools look OK.
No, maybe: The stooling doesn't seem serious unless you're also seeing blood, but you could probably use more dietary fiber. The gas doesn't seem serious, unless it's been getting worse & you're having pain. If so, see a clinician for evaluation. Taking OTC ranitidine might benefit. Hope that helps. ...Read more
Bowel movement first thing every morning, it used to be varied. Other symp: constant dull sotmach discomfort and gas, no pain.?
Depends: It sounds like you are eating healthier than in the past and having regular bm's. Excess fiber in relation to fluid can produce excessive gas and bloating. If you have had a chnage in bowels and no explanation along with abdominal pain, you should be evaluated properly by a gasroenterologist or colorectal surgeon to make sure nothing more serious is going on to cause the changes. ...Read more
Feel like circadian rhythm is off. Have bowel movement 4:30 am every morning for over a month now. I used to go at 9 am. Why is this?
Hard to say but...: Indeed, it does sound like your circadian rhythm is off, but the mystery is why and how to change it. We still have a lot to learn about the causes and treatments of such imbalances, but both chinese medicine (acupuncture) and homeopathy has means of addressing this, so consider those approaches if you want to try to bring this back into balance. ...Read more
Every morning I have a bowel movement at least 4 times in an hour, most of which is loose and watery. What could be wrong?
Could be normal: What's considered a normal bowel movement varies from one person to the next. In general, most people have it 3 x/day to 3 x/week. 4 times in an hour with loose, watery consistency sounds a bit unusual, but the important question is whether this is a new pattern for you or you have always had it this way. If it's something new, it could be diarrhea due to a number of possible causes. ...Read more
Every morning i have a loose bowel movement with no other major symptoms, I get a bit bloated by the end of the day but I used to go 2-3 times a day?
Irritable bowel: This is characteristic of irritable bowel syndrome and/or very active gastrocolic reflex. Hot coffee or tea, anxiety, rushing or stress aggravate the process. If this becomes a very troublesome problem, medication like bentyl or donnatal can be taken a half hour before breakfast and prevent this reaction. A gastroenterologist is best qualified to evaluate and advise you about this situation. ...Read more

Can drinking honey and warm water every morning be the reason for softer and slightly more frequent than usual bowel movements? As it makes more mucus
Warm water: Drinking warm water alone can stimulate peristalsis resulting in more active and softer bowel movements. If you secrete lots of mucus in your stool, then irritable bowel syndrome is suggested. If your current bowel pattern doesn't bother you, then I wouldn't worry about the softer and more active bowels. ...Read more

My five-year old daughter has a bowel movement every 3 or 4 days and doesn't urinate when first awakes in morning belly hurts sometimes . Normal?
NOT NORMAL: There: Should be one formed/soft bm/d. Better if one does twice. Your daughter has constipation. Fecal matter in rectum cause dysfunctional voiding- that she has, which can give rise to recurrent uti. Give 6-8 big glasses/bottle of water/day, more fiber- fruits, vegetables, salad, etc. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) (otc) 1-2 capful in big glass of gatorade/water/juice 1-2/d. Bowel training: sit on toilet 1-2/d until have bm. ...Read more

I used to have a bowel movement each morning.3 days ago I traveled from europe to usa and i have not a bowel movement since then.normal?what to do?
Not unusual: It is not unusual for travel to affect one's bowel habits. Some people get more constipated while traveling, and some are the opposite. The best thing to do is to try to get back to your usual diet. I would increase the amount of fiber in your diet, and consider a mild laxative, such as milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide). If it persists, see your doctor. ...Read more
