I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy on August 27. Have been recently having bowel issues and haven't had a bowel movement in 5 days (that was a small).?

Unrelated: Four months later it is unlikely that this is related to the hysterectomy unless you have some post-op adhesions which could cause a partial obstruction. That would usually cause some pain too. Try starting with increased fluids and fiber. Many GI doctors recommend Miralax (polyethylene glycol). If this doesn't help, talk to your primary care provider. ...Read more

I had a hysterectomy 3 months ago & I'm still having trouble with bowel movements. Is this normal & what can I do?

I've had a hysterectomy removing all but my ovaries, I have a cystocele can this cause problems with having regular bowel movements?

Here are some. ..: Analyzing the sequence of events specifically in relation with the function of urination and BM before & after simple total hysterectomy without ovarian removal will get a glimpse & suspicion of its potential negative impacts, which may be expected but widely vary among individuals in severity. So, with these in mind, seek pro-evaluation to deduce possible clinical significance for reasonable Rx. ...Read more

BM after surgery: Having a bowel movement after surgery depends on many factors. A bowel prep and pain medicine will both certainly make your bowels move slowly. As long as you are doing well, passing flatus, and don't feel constipated, I would give it some time. If you feel constipated, there are many over the counter laxatives. ...Read more
