Is a colon cleanse something to consider if I have bowel issues and probiotics don't help. Is there anything harmful to why I should consider one?

Is a colon cleanse something to consider if I have bowel issues and probiotics don't help. Is there anything harmful to why I should consider one?

I wouldn't.: Two issues. One, quite frankly, after the colon is "cleansed", you eat, make poop and it's dirty again so there's really no permanent solution there. Second, there have been electrolyte disturbances that have resulted from colon cleanses which can cause heart rhythm issues. Get evaluated for your bowel issues properly. ...Read more

Had colonoscopy/endoscopy this year both clear Except for high lymphocyte count in small intestine-had colon cleanse 2day afterward had bloody mucus ?

Why did you cleanse?: Your database suggests enteritis--an inflammatory condition of the small intestine (like Crohn's disease or infection, among others). Your bloody effluent after cleansing raises concern for ongoing/undertreated inflammation. Please don't cleanse again, but instead start appropriate medication for your condition--call your doctor today. ...Read more

What is a colon cleanse?

What is a colon cleanse?

You don't need it: Your colon keeps itself clean naturally. If someone tells you that you may feel sick because of "toxic bowel settlement" or something similar and that you need a fancy laxative or bizarre enema, ignore that person. Please be careful. If you buy into the idea of needing to do weird things to "cleanse" yourself, you'll never feel well again. Find an evidence-based holist instead. Best wishes. ...Read more
