Multiple reasons: Pain on the top of the foot could be from tendinitis, stress fracture, joint inflammation or injury. If blood work has ruled out RA, you should get an X-ray if not done, you may need an anti inflammatory or an insert to help take stress off the foot. ...Read more

Black is not normal: Gout shouldn't cause black discoloration. It suggests some form of bleeding issue, whether it be related to bruising or an abnormality with the blood vessels in that area. Or, it can suggest death of tissue in that area, so called necrosis. Alternatively, if you are using a silver based dressing in that location it could discolor your skin. Painfull: Calf spasms are painful. Usually they relax through weight bearing, gentle stretch, and heat before the ankle will "move". Naproxen is not the cure.
