Black is not normal: Gout shouldn't cause black discoloration. It suggests some form of bleeding issue, whether it be related to bruising or an abnormality with the blood vessels in that area. Or, it can suggest death of tissue in that area, so called necrosis. Alternatively, if you are using a silver based dressing in that location it could discolor your skin.
