How does botox or Restylane (dermal fillers) treatment work?

How does botox or Restylane (dermal fillers) treatment work?

Differently!: Botox and Restylane (dermal fillers) are not similar at all and they are not interchangeable. Botox relaxes the muscles under the skin which allows the skin to move less and have less wrinkles. Motion wrinkles go away quickly, resting wrinkles take multiple treatments. What's better for frown lines? Dysport or botox?

Similar Results: In my experience, both give very similar results. I've had some patients say that Dysport is a bit more natural (i.e. less "frozen") than Botox. Dysport also comes on faster (3-5 days instead of 7-10 with Botox.) I have quite a few patients who request Dysport over Botox and I prefer it when I treat my own lines. FYI you can get a really great deal on Dysport right now with Aspire. (google it) ...Read more

Why would my eyelid droop after xeomin (incobotulinumtoxin a)?

Too much product: Drooping eyelids can occur with botox, Dysport or xeomin (incobotulinumtoxin a). Because these products work by relaxing the muscles. Too much product or injecting too close to the brow can cause the eyelids to droop. Make sure you inform your doctor that this happened so that he/she can back off a little for your next treatment.
