Yes: There is no need to repeat a pap smear unless it's abnormal. Cervicitis is treated with antibiotics and cervical infections can be evaluated for quickly without the need for waiting six months. First ask your doctor to explain the reasoning for their plan as they may provide informantion that would make it reasonable to wait. Depends on risk : Normal pap depends on risk factors like: past abnormal results? Treated for abnormality? Infected with hpv viral strain causing cervical cancer? If infected, strength of immunity? Tobacco use? Mother took des during pregnancy(used to prevent miscarriage)? At your age, automatic test for hpv type recommended if pap is abnormal. Cervical cancer grows slowly. Benign: That usually means there was some degree of inflammatory activity at the cervix when the pap smear was taken. That is often seen when there is an infection such as an std or more likely, an overgrowth of yeast, whether or not that woman has any symptoms of infection or of yeast. Assuming PAP Smear?: No reason to worry unless you went into the test with reasons for such. Stay calm, think positive and just see what becomes of it. If you have an abnormal pap, there are many treatments and not all is "doom". It think you are going to be surprised with a less than very serious outcome. Do not skip PAP!: Please do not skip your pap test. God forbid, the test comes back abnormal, it can be addressed by your doctor to prevent more serious issues. ...Read more
