Need reliable info on taking evening primrose oil and omega 3 fish oil together to combat moderate chin acne?
No reliable evidence: I don't believe there is concrete evidence! It is easier to prevent acne than treating severe acne because severe/cystic acne will cause scars which are permanent. Inflammatory acne are often treated with topical benzoy/antibiotic combo or oral antibiotics. blackheads acne probably better treated with some retinoid derivatives..It is best to consult doc for individualized treatment... I am taking herbal supplements fish oil, estrogen, multiple vitamin, hyaluronic acid, pumpkin seed oil. Are these safe to take with each other?
Not really, but why?: Who knows? They may not even be safe by themselves, as you never really know what's in them to begin with. Why are you taking them in the first place. What are you attempting to fix, and how are you going to tell if any of them help -- what criteria are you going to use. They will commonly interact adversely with other supplements and also with prescription meds. Avoid at all costs. ...Read more
Fish oil-depression: Yes it can help. Fish oil and some fatty fish contain a lot of omega 3 oil which is an essential nutrient. I'm taking trilipix (135mg) and lovaza....They're fairly expensive...Can I substitute them with OTC niacin and OTC fish oil pills? Thanks!
Not really: They are not equivalent: trilipix is a fibrate - different than niacin; lovazaa contains very selected and precise quantities of fatty acids that are not found in otc supplements. If you want to go inexpensive to lower your triglycerides try to loose weight (7-10% of your current body weight), eat less sugars, exercise 45-60 min/ day x 5-7 days a week, and eat fish. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
