Bony Lump Behind The Ear
Found a finger tip sized lump behind ear (not in fold but more on the side of head) 3 weeks ago. Was not painful but now is. Very firm, bony like?

Lump behind ear, right on the bony bit behind the ear it's fixed and hard it's right on bone so not lymph node, what could it be? Feel unwell also.
Saw ENT for lump behind ear for months. Said there is a mass there and that it "seems like a bony mass and very firm". Recommended open biopsy. Bad?
Daughter just found bony bump behind ear. Hard smaller then a bb. Pcp says no lymph nodes thinks cartilage. bone spur? No xrays done. I'm worried??
Not sure: Since it is smaller than a BB it is probably nothing to worry about. X rays are not likely to show much in this area. Just keep an eye on it and if it should start getting larger, then ask again for an evaluation. Meanwhile, ask her not to rub or mess with it (or you either!) Just check once a week or so. ...Read more
Not certain: It sounds like there is a fluid collection in the skin behind the ear. Questions to ask yourself: is this soft? Does it move when you touch it? Is it painful or red? Hard lump discovered 2 wks ago behind ear. Dr said if not gone in 4 wks then biopsy. Should I wait on biopsy longer than that if no other symptoms?
Your call: If it is stable, and not painful, it is very unlikely to be anything beyond a bit of scar (quite firm ) or a piece of mastoid process (bone hard) or a benign inclusion cyst (sort of firm and smooth). Full information before you allow biopsy and consider imaging first -- there is an important nerve nearby. ...Read more
