Not cancer: In my 25 years of being a rheumatologist… I have yet to see knee pain present has bone cancer. An x-ray would completely rule that out but it is extremely rare. Pain when exercising suggests a number of possibilities. There could be a problem within the joint. Is there any history of trauma? There could be tendinitis. The first thing to do is rest, anti-inflammatories if there is no contraindication such as stomach ulcers or kidney failure, time, heat.
