Boils Under Scrotum
Basic hygeine: The best treatment for scrotal boils is PREVENTION. Clean and dry skin around the clock is mandatory. Over the counter product such as Gold Bond powder may have some soothing effect. Definitive treatment of hidradenitis in the groin is wide surgical excision, which is recommended for frequent and severe episodic hidradenitis suppurativa. Read more
See below: Boils are caused by bacteria, usually Staphylococcus aureus, that often normally reside on and colonize the skin. When the bacteria enter a break in the skin or travel down a hair follicle, a boil occurs. Good hygiene; avoiding shaving and chafing of the scrotum, wearing clean and breathable underwear to minimize moisture and heat, and use of an antibacterial soap can all be preventative. Read more
Question husband diagnosed with an boil or abcest on scrotum has drainage it has stopped after five days but still hard lump is this normal?
There are really 2: Questions here. A boil in general is not normal but not unusual. It is an abnormal finding wherever it is. Once it drained, is it abnormal to have firm and inflamed tissue? No. If it all drained it may clear. It may also resume if all the material did not drain. Keep the area clean but if it worsens u may need antibiotics. Read more

Red boil-like sore on scrotum. Isn't hurting but it feels irritating. It doesn't feel itchy. Little yellow top. Area around is firm/hard and swollen?
See below: Probable early onset of a boil/furuncle/abscess usually related to an infected hair follicle or sebaceous cyst of the scrotum. At home treatment includes keeping scrotum clean and warm moist compresses to help it either resolve or "come to a head." Manually "squeezing" the boil potentially more harmful than helpful. If worsens, see MD for possible antibiotics and/or incision and drainage. Read more
