Good plan! Keep it!: Sounds good, and hydrate, and stay away from sugars, as sometimes, it exacerbates boils or skin issues. Drink plenty of water, and also stay away from sodas, sweet or diet sodas too. Get some rest, reduce your stress level, and let your body work on it's own healing. Do take probiotics three times daily, if you're on antibiotics to reduce risk of vaginitis (5%) too. ...Read more

STAPH: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is not in any way an appropriate choice to treat your Staph infection. Staph is now resistant to most penicilins. Your abscess is the clue that this is staph and you need more appropriate health care. ...Read more

I keep getting boils on my bottom, why?

Buttock boils: Boils of the buttocks region develop from a number of things. Treatment can be with oral antibiotics or biologics like Humira or enbrel (etanercept). ...Read more

My baby is 16 months old and has a really bad boil on her bottom. She's had it for several days now and got a fever as well. Why should I do?

Why do I keep getting boils on my bottom. There really painful and I also have these kind of spots with blood in and after there squeezed it weeps?

Wrong treatments: Recurrent infections mean that the original infections were not eradicated or you keep exposing the area to the same causes. If recurrent, then you may have chronically infected cysts which need removal. Simply opening them does not get rid of the infected parts. Squeezing is bad as it "injects" the infection deeper into the tissues. A surgeon needs to help get rid of these. Enough antibiotics! ...Read more

My 1 year old has a boil on her bottom and it popped and puss comes out then it closes and reopens and bleeds a lot. What can I do to help it go away?

Warm soaks: The main treatment for a boil is to open and drain the pus, but if it closes and reopens, it may need more effective incision and drainage which your doctor or surgeon can do. Warm compresses help the body to bring the infection to the surface. Depending on the size of the boil, your doctor may also choose to obtain cultures and Rx with antibiotics. Please see a doctor. I hope it clears soon. ...Read more

My 6 month old daughter has a boil on her bottom but it hasn't come to a head yet. It is causing her a lot of pain. What can I do to make it go away?

Hard to say: If you can get the kid to accept a warm compress in the area it will sometimes bring this to a head. However, it is almost impossible to do in that location and you will need to go in anyway. Sometimes abx can help but most will need to be opened and drained. Depending on the location this could originate from a hair follicle or a fistula from the intestine near the anus requiring surgery. ...Read more

How do I get rid of a boil on the bottom of my foot?

How do I get rid of a boil on the bottom of my foot?

Incise & drain: The definitive treatment for a boil is incision and drainage. Try soaking the foot in hot water to see if it will drain on its own. If not, it will have to be lanced, but don't attempt this yourself - it will hurt too much and you run the risk of making things worse, particularly on the sole of the foot. Let a doctor do it under the proper sterile conditions, with an anesthetic. ...Read more

I have a boil at the bottom of my left butt cheek right where both cheeks meet/overlap. Saw my dr, got Augmentin, (amoxicillin and clavulanate) doing hot soaks, any other tips?

Follow up care: You're doing everything right so far, but the boil may have other ideas. If it continues to grow, gets more painful or you get a fever, you need follow up. Sometimes, a simple outpatient procedure called an Incision and Drainage is the only way to clear up the problem. However, do not try this at home! ...Read more

My son had a boil on his bottom lanced and tested positive for mrsa. They put him on eryped (erythromycin ethyl succinate) for 10 days. Will this cure him?

Maybe: The lancing may cure the issue more than the med. I have not found that med very helpful with MRSA, as cross resistance is common, but it might help. Clindomycin or Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) will usually kill the MRSA germ. ...Read more

Can a anal boil after heal leaves it hy bottom or fistula? After healing start my itch and a pink mark in center, on coxis like a fistula by scratch

Anal abscess: A true anal abscess arises from anal glands up inside the anus. The gland gets blocked and infection makes it way to the outside via tract or fistula. When the abscess drains, the fistula tract dries up in 50% of cases. In the other 50%, one of two things happens. You either get a chronic draining sinus or another abscess. Both indicate a fistula remains. ...Read more

Are all boils in need of medical treatment? I noticed one on my 2yr olds bottom today for the first time. I bathe him regularly

Boils: Unfortunately, we can't make definitive statements about "all boils". Whether to seek treatment depends upon health of individual as well as intensity of infection. Small pimple might respond to just warm compresses while larger abscesses in diabetics most likely would require lancing (incision & drainage aka I&D) plus antibiotics. In young children, I'd recommend seeking medical attention ASAP ...Read more

Should I be worried about bump on breast? I have a small bruised bump on my bottom right breast. It does not hurt unless im wearing my bra or if I apply pressure to it. When I touch it it feels soft I thought it might be a boil but im not sure.

Any: Any breast lesion should be evaluated by a doctor. If it is infectious then you will need antibiotic treatment. If the diagnosis is unclear then you may need an ultrasound or even a mammogram depending on your doctors findings.
If in fact it is just a bruise (hematoma) then it will go away in time. An anti-inflammatory like advil (ibuprofen) or Ibuprofen can help with the healing process and with pain.
Good luck. ...Read more
