Boil I&D: Since it was Incised and Drained and then even has the packing in it, you do not want to get it and the packing wet. Abscess: If it continues to drain then no. Was it cultured? It may be MRSA. See your doctor for guidance. You are right to try and not spread this to your patients. You may also carry the bacteria in your upper respiratory tract. All the best. ...Read more

Boil: Assume you were treated with clindamycin and other appropriate antibiotic. Can apply hot moist compresses to area to attempt to soften. It will take 6 months to two years to soften up as much as possible.
