Highly variable: The optimal dose is not based on weight nor age but how hypothyroid she is. Most doctors only prescribe levothyroxine (synthetic T4) but research (and clinical experience) shows most feel much better by adding T3 (liothyronine) or changing to natural thyroid. Also many doctors do not give adequate doses. See
