Depends on variables: If you are working out under the supervision of a certified trainer/coach this should neither help or hurt. Power lifting is not advised until you are at your final height. 5-10% range: 5 '0"" is at the 5-10% range for males at age 14 by cdc growth charts. That means 90-95% of males will be taller.
Wow! Almost anything!: There is a huge range of normal sizes for14-year old boys...On the cusp of puberty for some, late for others. Go to cdc website @ www. Cdc. Gov; type "growth charts" in the search box at the right upper corner of this webpage; click thru the menus until you see boys charts geared for age14. Plot your son. Hopefully he is good! If in doubt, talk with your pediatrician or nutritionist for more details.
Go to cdc site: Go to www. Cdc. Gov and toggle through the opening page down to the statistics section. After you bring up the statistics section you can go to growth charts. By placing the kids height an the 14y height chart you get their % size. Follow down to the weight chart along the 14y line to the same % weight. That is the expected weight. More than one growth % line above that point is considered excessive.

Needs Endo Consult: Sounds like he is responsive to testosterone but there are other growth hormones that determine height. I would recommend a Pediatric Endocrinologist to evaluate entire hormone system. That could direct appropriate therapy. Family history is very important as well.
