Blurry Peripheral Vision In Left Eye
Recovered from TIA except for loss of peripheral vision in left eye and the left side of right. Experiencing further sight loss. Is this usual?
When you look at someone's face, you can still see their hand, even though you are not looking directly at it. When you are walking through a doorway, you are not looking at the sides, or looking directly at the threshold, but you see it through your peripheral vision. Anything outside of your direct focus spot, is considered peripheral. Which can be measured ...Read more

I am noticing heat waves rising from my peripheral vision (temporal and bottom) mostly in left eye in dark. They are continuous. Don't see after sleep?
Get checked: Your profile suggests some eye and vision problems already, so you likely gave an ophthalmologist following you. If not, see one. I would be concerned that such specific areas of abnormal vision could relate to retinal problems. Quadrant vision loss and change can also occur with certain strokes. Best to get thorough history and dilated eye exam. ...Read more

Probably migraine: Your peripheral moving yellow fringe spots with adjacent darkened areas w/ mild ocular discomfort sound migrainous in nature. Speak to your family doctor for advice on how to manage these symptoms. ...Read more

Was walking when suddenly peripheral vision in left eye went white and patchy like little spots. Went away after 20 minutes and got a bad headache?
Retinal migraine (also known as ophthalmic migraine, visual migraine and ocular migraine) is a retinal disease often accompanied by migraine headache and typically affects only one eye. It is caused by an infarct or vascular spasm (spasm of the blood vessel) in or behind the affected eye.
I would suggest a clinical evaluation along with a comprehensive dilated eye exam by an Ophthalmologist. ...Read more
Yesterday I experienced sudden temporary loss of peripheral vision in my left eye. Which lasted under 1 minute - no headache followed. Any thoughts?
Merits evaluation: Although migraine can cause a transient visual symptom, amaurosis fugax can occur as a result of an embolism of plaque from the carotid artery on the same side as the affected eye; and there are other possible causes of the symptom. A visit to an ophthalmologist would be a good first step. ...Read more

Glaucoma rt. Eye. Humphrey field test full within normal limits. DMV peripheral vision test 50 deg left & 70 deg right. Dr says DMV test wrong. Possible?
Depends: Most Humphrey testing is 30-50 degrees from the center simply because ones that measure farther out take too long a time and most glaucoma changes start in the center. The DMV tests check a couple of horizontal points about 60 degrees and 130 degrees out. So it depends upon which testing you went through. Hopefully, with a glaucoma diagnosis, you are seeing a real doctor - an ophthalmologist. ...Read more

Sudden black & white zigzag pattern in my left eye. Can't see with side vision. Happens from light glares at time. No other symptoms. Lasts about 1hr?
Occipital migraine: This is due to vascular changes in the occipital lobe of the brain, the part of the brain that makes the images we call vision. The classic pattern is a zig zag one which sometimes shimmers in an arc with a greyout in the middle. These can be annoying but are not dangerous and do not cause long term damage. ...Read more
I have had a TIA. Now my peripheral vision on my right side, in both eyes, is gone. Might it come back to normal?
See your eye doctor: For best answers & further work up. Depends on where the clots were traveling during your TIA. If they went into the optic nerve, it can affect your vision & the eye doctor can do extra tests to check how the health of your optic nerve is right now & give you better answers to your specific situation & alleviate ur fears. Usually TIA is better than having an actual stroke, but needs to be assessed. ...Read more
When open eyes after shut for some time, peripheral vision flickers for few secs if surroundings are mix of light&dark;10yr now. Oph exam fine. Brain?
Cause of white flashes in peripheral vision in just one eye? They aren't happening anymore, but did earlier today. I don't get migraines. Had no pain.
Flashing: Seeing Flashing lights: due to either traction of the vitreous gel in the eye on the retina (which is an extension of the brain & makes the brain sense flashes); if you have new floaters or "see" a curtain coming over your vision, see eyeMD asap. Ophthalmic migraines are visual symptoms (like seeing flashing lights) without a headache. See your eyeMD to be sure it is not a new retinal hole/tear. ...Read more
