Hip pain. Can't put weight on my right leg. Extreme pain. Only 41. History of osteoporosis in my family. No trauma to the area. Outside right hip pain?
Hip pain: Hip pain can be caused by injury to the hip joint, sacroiliac joint or the low back. Often the pain arises without obvious cause. Crutches or a rolling walker can help reduce pain by limiting weight bearing. It is important to see a hip or back expert and obtain imaging studies to determine the location of the pain and to establish a treatment regimen. ...Read more
Need more info: In young people hip pain can be due to poor alignment between the top of the thigh bone and the hip socket, causing impingment. It can also be a tear in the labrum. More serious conditions involve poor blood supply to the head of the thigh bone, called avascular necrosis, and then there is arthritis, damage to the cartilage, bursitis and tendonitis. ...Read more
I am having pain in my right hip and the pain goes down my right leg to my ankle. My knee hurts more when I bend it. There has been no trauma.
What would cause pain on the side of my hip? 3 days ago, I strained my low back while bending down. No other trauma. What can I do to speed recovery?
Family tragedy. 2 sisters broke hips around 90. Both developed rapid-onset dementia within 6mo. Was it genetic or trauma or age-related?
Hard to say: If they had surgery then that may be more of a factor then the fracture. Alzheimer's dementia is the most common type of dementia and in it conversational speech is preserved long into the illness so there may have been subtle signs before the fractures. If either one developed delirium that would also worsen cognition. For your risk, ask your primary care provider. ...Read more

Recently changed diet. Experiencing weird tender/heavy feeling near left hip between it & penis area. Could that be from diet change? No trauma/injury
I had left hip replaced due to trauma related osteoarthritis. My hip dislocated 3 weeks after anterior approach replacement. It stayed dislocated for?
R we 2 guess what?: This has no question. What are you asking? How long before it dislocates again? . It depends on what the circumstances were as well as what was done 4 it. If it was relocated & nothing else, nothing has changed & the possibility of recurrence would be high. If opened & structures tightened less so. If keeps on, needs revision. ...Read more
I have a pea sized lump on my hip, that tripled in size over night. And seems to be bruising, although I had no trauma to the area.
Abscess: It is important that you get this examined by your doctor. The lump may be the development of an abscess which may need incision and drainage and possibly antibiotics. Or it may be due to a subcutaneous cyst or a haematoma (blood collection). Very difficult to comment without an examination ...Read more
Stinging pain in vein on hip 3 days. No discoloration or temp difference. No bruise/trauma. Hurts when I sit/apply pressure. Should I be concerned?
Plan: You do not have history of trauma, bruises, and pain is on while you sit or press locally. If it right you can use some cream for muscle pain for 3-5 days. Check your physical activity and do not overuse some exercise, related to this muscle. No needs to be concerned, most likely it is muscle pain. ...Read more

My lumbo-sacral vertebrae and hip joints pain me while standing and walking. What do I have? No history of trauma.
Arthritis: This is a very common problem. Osteoarthritis of your hips, or degenerative disc disease (spondylosis) of your spine are the most likely causes. Exercise to strengthen your back muscles might help. Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen or Naproxen might help. If this has been bothering you for more than a few weeks, see your doctor. ...Read more
Very painful tailbone. Seen a chiropractor and it's not my spine or hips bones. No trauma to the area either. Been hurting for over a month.?
I'm still getting unexplained hip pain after getting it checked out at ER with xrays - no fractures. No pain yesterday, but pain today, though no new trauma occurred. Use a cane when walking helps.
Shoulder pain, neck, back pain, hip pain. Xray normal except mild wedging t7, t8. A couple schmorl's nodes. Would trauma be clearly seen?
Maybe.: X-rays have miss rates where the finding isn't detected or can't be seen. X-rays are not very sensitive for soft tissue injuries such as ligaments or discs. MRI is more sensitive for soft tissue injury and may show marrow or structure changes from fractures. CT or nuclear medicine bone scan may show missed fractures, not seen or visible on x-ray. X-ray remains a good screening tool. ...Read more

What could be the diagnosis for a 64 year old with no history of trauma, left hip, left thigh, left lower leg and left foot pain?
Snapping hip: The most likely cause is a muscle on the outside of your hip called the tensa fascia latae that extend more distally to form your illiotibial (it) band that "pops" rather than glides over a bony prominence in the upper part of your thigh bone (femur). The pop/ clunk feels like your hip is dislocating. The illiopsoas (hip flexor) muscle on the front part of the hip can also produce a snap. ...Read more

Physical therapy: First have you seen anyone to determine f there is an anatomic reason for it? A stiff hip can be from stiff muscles surrounding it or misalignment in the back (chiropractor). Inflammation from diet issues can also affect. One leg shorter than the other. I would suggest a physical therapy eval, (stretches and exercises) a chiropractic eval and a visit with an acupuncturist/chinese medicine doc. ...Read more

I'm trying to stay active and fit but am getting some pain in my lower back and right hip possibly from the exercise. Suggestions?
Stop that activity!: You won't hear it too often from doctors telling you to stop exercising but if a specific activity causes pain, then stop doing it! That doesn't mean stop all exercise altogether. By all means keep doing other things that don't bring on pain but give that specific area a chance to rest & heal. Ice is also good for injuries. Go see your doc if you're no better in 7-10 days or if worsening sympto. ...Read more
