There's a yellowish color around the circle of my pupil on my iris. I'm Irish with blue eyes. Is that normal and on top of my cornea?
Probably normal, but: There are all sorts of variations in iris color and this may be one of those. Some people will have a white or yellowish ring around the perimeter of the cornea where it meets the white of the eye. This might appear to be an iris discoloration (the iris is in the eye), but really it is on the cornea, which is the clear dome over the iris. This might be related to increased cholesterol levels. ...Read more
I have hazel/blue eyes. In the edge of the iris I have an orange spot. I have been told I have risk of cancer b/c. Is this true?
Unlikely: Cancer of the iris and of the surface of the eye is very uncommon. What you are seeing is probably either a nevus on the iris (is it inside the eye?) or a benign thickening of the conjunctiva at the edge of the cornea (outside of the eye). You should consult with your ophthalmologist to sort this out. ...Read more

My 11 month baby was born with blue eyes. Over the past two months one eye has started to turn brown in the bottom half. Anything to worry about?
Don't worry: Eye color is not necessarily final until the end of the 1st or even 2nd year. The melanin deposits over time and the patterns can vary - often it is rings, but each eye can be different. Don't worry - especially if there is no other ocular issue. At the next pediatrician visit ask about it or make an appointment if you are curious. Don't worry - it's not good for either of you. ...Read more
Depends: Eye color has complex inheritance but brown vs blue is not too difficult. If the father is dark brown due to having both genes brown, then the child must get one brown from his dad and he will have brown eyes. If mom is true blue, she has both genes blue and her child will get only that color gene from her. If dad has one brown and one blue then 1/2 of his children will get blue eyes. ...Read more
