See your dentist!: There are many possibilities, but for solitary lesions of the tongue, I always refer patients to their dentist or an oral surgeon, just on the very rare chance that it's some kind of oral cancer or precancerous lesion. Tricky.: dermatologic conditions are hard to discuss without seeing them. scalloping with discoloration would indeed be a presentation of precancerous / cancerous changes. Oral surgeon: Please have an oral surgeon examine your tongue asap. There are blood vessels that are larger than fine capillaries in tongue, and when it is damaged it may continue to bleed. Even then, it should stop eventually. What you are experiencing may be slow clotting of blood, which itself also needs to be looked at as well.
