I had bloody stool. I was feeling like I was going to pass out tonight and dizy. My lower stomach sticks out and I've been constipated. What could be?

Be seen immediately: The combination of blood stool and feeling like you are going to pass out are concerning. People can actually lose a lot of blood through their bowels before they realize it, and this can be life threatening. You should be evaluated immediately to ensure that you are safe. I hope this is helpful. ...Read more

See your doctor.: The combination of symptoms that you are describing do not point to any one obvious problem, so you need to have a complete evaluation in an office, and perhaps blood tests or other tests. You also need to be evaluated to see why you have blood in your stool. These can be important symptoms. Do not delay. Good luck. ...Read more

Anal fissure?: At your age, if there's a clearly defined cause of the bleeding, no colonoscopy is needed. I'm not sure if the description your doctor gave you was of an anal fissure (a tear in the anal surface often caused by hard stool). If symptoms don't respond to your treatment, keep pursuing it. ...Read more

Suffering from hemorrhoids. This is my second on. The first one on top of butt cheek, 2nd between butt cheek. Chronic constipation, blood in stool?

Not hemorrhoids.: It is impossible to have a hemorrhoid at the top of your butt. Hemorrhoids are abnormal blood vessels located only at the anus. It is possible that you could have hemorrhoids there, but the problem at the top of your "butt cheeks" is not a hemorrhoid. I would recommend a high-fiber diet, and to see your MD if you have not been evaluated before, since you have rectal bleeding. Hope this helps. ...Read more

I was constipated for a while, and when I had too go there would be blood in stool. Now those symptoms just magically dissappered how often is that?

Constipation blood: Constipation and trying to force your stools by pushing can sometime call abrasion in the anus and that will cause the bleeding when you go and strain again, sometimes internal hemorroids will bleed when you are constipated. If your stools are normal now that might be a reason why it stopped. Since you did have blood in the stool, it is a good idea to see a GI specialist and have colonoscopy done aswe. ...Read more

Have occasional red blood in stool. Usually happens with a large stool that can be painful when passing but not constipated. Dr did a sigmoidoscopy and says he sees nothing wrong at all. Possible???

May be a fissure: If this occurs with a large stool and no hemorrhoids were seen then consider a fissure (or tear of skin). These can heal rapidly so your doctor may not see it when you get checked. They often can be itchy while healing. If this sounds possible, a stool softener may help even if you are not constipated. ...Read more

Small red spot in 2 yo diaper today. No blood in stool. Other day took rectal temp. Mucus w/ little red on it. Acting fine. Constipated often-worry?

OK unless recurring: Even if it is blood, a small amount, one event would not be anything to worry about. It could be due to the thermometer causing some mild trauma or constipation. It could also not even be blood. I would have it checked if it is recurring or if there is a larger amount of blood. ...Read more

Blood in stool, conspation, musuc after gallbladder surgery. Is it normal?

Perhaps: Constipation is common post surgery, especially with the use of narcotic pain medications. This can lead to excessive mucous production and could cause bleeding hemorrhoids or a tear called an anal fissure. All GI bleeding should be investigated to some degree, however, as rectal bleeding is never normal. You should discuss this with your doctor or surgeon. ...Read more

Do anal fissures require surgical removal? Had bloody stool for less than 20 times in the past 3 years. With pain sometimes. Had occasional constipation and diarrhea. No anal sex history. Thanks.

Surgery not required: Anal fissures can usually be treated conservatively. In fact, a lengthy attempt at conservative therapy is usually best in my opinion. It can take 'a while' for anal fissure to heal. If or when conservative therapy fails, then there are surgical options that are very successful. Have you been evaluated properly? How do you know you have a fissure? If not previously evaluated, please get checked. ...Read more
