Conj hemorrhage: Sounds like a conjunctival hemorrhage. Normal vision, no pain in eye and blood in white part of eye. Typically happens as a result of increased pressure in the eye like with couching or sneezing or throwing up. They can get a bit larger in size but after a few days, the size should now be at its peak and should slowly resolve over next two weeks, if continues to grow, see an MD. ...Read more

Eye hemorrhage: An isolated sudden "popped" blood vessel on the white part of the eye, as long as it is not painful or associated with vision changes, is not usually a cause for concern. Coughed or sneezed?: At times, a forceful sneeze or cough can rupture a blood vessel under membrance of the eye--conjuntiva. It is rather common and often causes no pain, only a scary looking eye. Often resolves completely w/o problems. Sometime, there is quite a bit of blood causing a thickening area and thus one can feel something there during a blink/eye movement etc... Multiple treatment: If you have allergies, take zyrtec daily for your "shiners" (dilated blood vessels). A nose spray like veramyst may help. Get plenty of sleep. Cut out alcohol/caffeine/nicotine.
