Blood Tests Negative
Allergy blood tests negative for all outdoor allergens, but every time I go in woods and by river, I wake up next morning stuffy & feel yucky. Why?
Which test?: There are four different ways to test for allergies. Some ways are more accurate than others. Perhaps you had one of the less accurate allergy tests. Did you consult with an allergist? Was it a blood test or skin test? ...Read more
Gut acts positive??: There are a many conditions with overlapping symptoms effecting the gut. You don't list why the gut acts positive, which limits my answer. You can have intolerances to a variety of foods, artificial food dyes (red #40), and others, that will give symptoms but not trigger the immune tests for celiac disease. Keeping a food diary & eliminating/re-adding potential agents is one way track them down. ...Read more
Symptoms consistent with lupus or CFS. All blood tests negative. Can't take NSAIDS or corticosteroids because I Have Barret's. Any suggestions.
Diagnosis: If you have not been specifically diagnosed you do not want to be taking medications which are very non-specific and which have potentially severe complications. You need to sit down and discuss this at length with your doctor. Good luck and best wishes. ...Read more
All lupus blood tests negative but have all the symptoms. Pcp agrees. Seeing lupus doctor in 1 month. Is it possible to have lupus with negative labs?
Blood tests negative for celiac, hla gene positive, biopsy positive. Could there be another cause for mucosal flattening?
Unlikely: The blood test is of secondary importance. It depends on what test you had, for instance the immunoglobulin a antibody to tissue transglutaminase may be negative if one already avoids eating gluten. Also, it is not very sensitive. The definitive test is the biopsy (not the gene, which does only show the likelihood of developing the disease. You probably have celiac disease. ...Read more
Blood tests negative, feeling baby kick, how can I determine my pregnancy using other blood tests. Fibroids make them not see anything on ultrasound.
Unlikely scenario: Fetal movements are not usually detectable to the mother until at least 16 weeks. By this time, no amount of fibroids should obscure the fetus. In general, even an early gestational sac should be visible by ultrasound in the setting of most fibroids. The blood test used for pregnancy is very sensitive and accurate. False negative tests are extremely rare. Discuss with your ob. ...Read more
Ct shows large appendix. Blood tests negative for inflammation and infection. Can colonoscopy determine/see cause of pain in cecum/appendix area?
Sometimes large: Size is not the only criteria for appendicitis, Changes in mesentery and wall thickness. Another method of assessing appendix is ultrasound. If appendix localized inflammation in form of hyperemia is usually noted. Colonoscopy would not be method for assessment. Pelvic pain: At age 21, large fibroids are uncommon, but possible, and ovarian cysts can also occur. If serum pregnancy tests are negative, see your healthcare provider and obtain a pelvic ultrasound. Pelvic pain can also occur with prolonged urinary tract infections (URI's) and remember, not all produce the usual symptoms. Herpes Vaginalis cystitis can also mimic your symptoms. ...Read more

Experiencing prolonged chest congestion. X-Rays, blood tests negative. Antibiotics didn't work. Have been trying Zyrtec at night, together with nasal spray Qnasl (beclomethasone dipropinat) to reduce post-nasal drip. After one week, cough is less persiste
Right direction: Common causes of cough, other than infection are reflux and post-nasal drip. It sounds like the evaluation has looked for the more serious causes, but if the problem persists, continue to work with your doctor. Sometimes a pulmonary doctor can help with more resistant coughing. ...Read more
Recently doc told me I have psoriatic arthritis. But all blood tests negative and never any swelling. Sounds reasonable?
Psoriatic Arthritis: No single test can confirm a diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis. But some types of tests can rule out other causes of joint pain, such as rheumatoid arthritis or gout. Diagnosis tests may include: x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging (mri), rheumatoid factor (rf), or a joint fluid test. Rf is an antibody that's often present in the blood of people with rheumatoid arthritis, not usually psoriatic arthr. ...Read more
What are the Paraneoplastic antibodies blood tests? Why negative results can not rull out the syndrome?
Paraneoplastic syndromes are uncommon and the presence or absence of antibodies is only one evidence for making the diagnosis. See this site for more info.

Stopped nuvaring Jan 1st and period should've came Jan 23. I'm a week late and home tests and qualitative blood tests were negative?
Results from 2hr oggt: blood draws: 1/2 hr=230; 1hr=292; 2hr=250 blood tests are negative for diabetes. Is this glucose intolerance or insulin?
Diabetes: This is consistent with diabetes. The 2 hour after challenge should be < 140. If 140-199, that's prediabetes. I'm not sure what you mean by "blood tests negative for diabetes." go back to your doctor and ask for a test called a1c. This will confirm and tell you the severity of the diabetes. ...Read more

How likely is it that I have RA if blood tests were negative? I have stiff fingers in the morning similar to tigger fingers.
Clinical diagnosis: Morning stiffness is classic for rheumatoid arthritis and can be seen in a variety of other illnesses. Rheumatoid arthritis is diagnosed based on clinical criteria of which labs are a major component. If both your rheumatoid factor and apca are normal, your physician is thinking of other possible causes -- another joint disease, fibromyalgia, deconditioning, or even cold climate. Good luck. ...Read more

15 hpts and 2 blood tests are negative. My last period was stringy with stretchy clear discharge. By 12/17 I'd be 4 months, what's the chance I'm pre?
Tests are accurate: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate and not affected by foods, herbs, common illnesses, sexually transmitted diseases, vaginal spotting, or medications. A test gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a negative result may be due to testing too early such as less than 2 weeks after conception. ...Read more

Citrus-y smelling urine/rapid weight loss. I try to stay very hydrated and have been under a lot of stress. Urine and blood tests were negative. Help?
Endocrinologist: Uncontrolled diabetes and hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) are two common causes of rapid weight loss. I assume your tests have ruled out both. Could it be that your food intake has decreased because of so much stress? I recommend that you consult an endocrinologist and, perhaps, a psychiatrist who specializes in stress management therapy. ...Read more
Chronic hives not responding to otc h1 or h2. Prednisone helped for 7 days, but hives came right back. I went a dermatologist who ordered blood tests, all negative. Please help!
I agree with Drs Clear and Hegab.
I sympathize as itching is sometimes worse than pain is it not? There is still a good chance that your hives will eventually resolve by themselves. It turns out that the strongest antihistamine (H1+H2) is an old medicine used for anxiety, sleep, stress and depression called Doxepin. I had sex on my fertile days & my period is now 2 weeks late. I took urine & blood tests, both negative. Could I still be pregnant?
Trust the test: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctor's office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection. ...Read more
