If the Dr did a blood test to check electrolytes and magnesium would that show if calcium and magnesium were at the wrong ratio ?
Does all blood test they use in hospital to check for heart problems show magnesium difficies ? And why does magnesium help with my palpitations
Blood test. Nothing unusual except magnesium. 1.01 mmol/l (lab range: .7-1.0). Any need for follow-up?
No: What you presented is within the normal range. The reference range is central 95% of people, so 5% of normal people will have a value outside that range. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. History of renal stones, pain in right side. CT scan clear. Blood test results clear except for low magnesium 0.79mmol/L. What does it mean?
Magnesium: low magnesium has been associated with calcium oxalate kidney stones. Magnesium can inhibit the formation of calcium oxalate in the urine. It can also reduce blood calcium oxalate levels. It has been shown that taking oral magnesium and vitamin B6, an inhibitor of calcium oxalate metabolism can decrease the incidence of stones. See a kidney specialist for a stone work up. ...Read more

Provigil levels: Provigil comes in 100 and 200 mg strengths. Most drug levels can be measured in the blood, but not everyone does esoteric testing and you will need to measure peak and trough levels to really get a handle on your "average" blood level. If you are taking the lower dose you might want to discuss with your provider your concerns and consider upping the dose. Drug testing can be expensive, though. ...Read more

My DHEA level is high. A blood test taken 18 mos ago showed a level of 406 , and a more recent test shows 380. 55 yr, active, healthy male. Concern?
No concern: DHEA levels vary widely in individuals, as well as throughout the day. Levels are normally higher in men compared to women. It is a precursor hormone made by the adrenal glands. Unless there was a particular concern related to your adrenal glands, it should not have been measured, and certainly should not be a part of a "routine" lab screen. ...Read more
My last blood test shows Glucose level 116 mg/dl. Would this level indicate Diabetes II. ?
I am 85 and healthy.
Not diabetes: Hi. That value (116) would only be diagnostic if it were FASTING. A random (non-fasting) glucose of 116 is not abnormal. If your glucose of 116 was fasting, it's still not diabetes, but falls into the "impaired fasting glucose (IFG)" category (100-125 range). IFG is considered "pre diabetes", and has a higher rate of progression to diabetes. Eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly. Good luck! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My yesterday's blood test shows higher Red cell distributio width - 15.2 ( normal 11.6 to 14%) . . Also my Bilirubin level 1.51%, (0.2 to 1 norm) .
How do you feel?: Your physician can determine whether the slightly high bilirubin is Gilbert's or something worth investigating. High RDW is no danger but a marker for any of a variety of things. Good day to you all. I recently had a blood test which shows a high ck mm level (more than 1000). I like to know what are the implications of this.
How do you feel?: The reference range for creatine kinase assumes that the person does not exercise. In my experience, especially with healthy med students, almost everyone who's even mildly fitness-focused has high ck. I've seen labs over 3000 from an afternoon's hard workout. If you have no evidence of muscular dystrophy or myopathy, and you exercise, be proud of yourself. ...Read more

That transition occurs at about ten days post conception. It also corresponds with the time a period is due and it stops the period leading to a missed period and the first real symptom of early pregnancy. That is the sign to look for to know when to test. ...Read more
