Kidney and Liver T: Egfr (normal >60), creatinine, bun/cr ratio are all lab values to suggest how the kidney function is, ast is an enzyme secreted by the liver, if its elevated there is something wrong with the liver (it varies from mild to severe). Stop worrying: All three values are common and of no concern. Reference ranges are set so that several percent of healthy folks fall outside on either end. Especially, high b12 is concerning only in one rare illness that you do not have. ...Read more

Decrease in flow.:
Bun=blood urea nitrogen, byproduct of proteins ingested, if rise to high levels due to kidney problem, can cause toxic affects on the body.
Creatinine= measurement of renal function. Normal bun/cr ratio about 10. The higher that ratio, the more likely it is not intrinsic kidney disease per se, but reduction in blood flow or volume to kidney, like when on strong diuretic-prerenal-reversible. ...Read more
Should I be concerned of a low BUN/Creatinine Ratio on blood work? Is 8 still normal? BUN/Creatinine Ratio 8 LOW Reference 10-22
Blood test results say my WBC is 11.45 and MPV is 12.8. Should this be cause for concern in a patient whose family history is riddled with cancer? In addition to those results, my BUN is 4. Cause for concern?
I recently had a urine and blood test. Results show egfr @ 53, creatinine @ 1.35 and protein urine @ 123.7. Does this mean renal failure?
Renal failure?: You do not have renal failure. What you have is chronic kidney disease. To find what what your actual GFR is, you need to have a 24 hour urine for creatinine clearance and protein, as well as another lab test to get the creatinine at the time of your urine collection. You will also need a renal ultrasound. See a nephrologist for the best treatment of your chronic kidney disease and proteinuria. ...Read more
Age 65 w/fem. Serum Creatinine 1.02. Bun 8. Ratio 8. Egfr down from 70's to 58. Took Zantac (ranitidine) 150 32 hrs. Prior to blood test. No health concerns. CKD?
I don't think so: With a BUN of 8, anybody worried about their kidneys should be very happy. The lack of real science behind the "EGFR" promotion is showcased by the adjustment for race "because black people are more muscular." Many of us in pathology think this is an attempt by Big Pharma to make healthy people think they are sick. I'd be glad for good health. Creatine's fine for your age. Best wishes. ...Read more
My daughter of 7 years old have in Her blood test (bun/creatinine radio at 48.00) is that ok or has to be (10.0-20.0)?

I recently had a blood test. The BUN was 10 and creatinine was 1.2. I am a 36 year old male, Asian and am worried about the high creatinine levels?
I recently had some blood test done. Creatinine came back as 1.6, BUN is 19, glucose on the high side.....all other measurements are witin the range except for anion gap. Anion gap is 13, slightly above range. What does this all mean?
Hard to say: Without knowing your past medical history and past testing. But from what you mention your testing suggest some element of kidney dysfunction. It's not clear if it's chronic or acute. But you should reach out to your doctor if you have questions too. He/she will know you vest to be able to give you the most accurate description of what's going on. ...Read more

For the past 6 months my BUN has been normal and my Creatitine (blood test) has been very low. What does this mean?
2 y.o female has normal bun (8mg/dl)&creatinine (0.23mg/dl) but BUN/creatinine ratio is abnormal at 35. Why is this? Fasting blood glucose is also 134.
Bun and creatinine: Do not worry about ratio of bun/cr. Bun is affected by many factors, hydration status, protein intake, muscle mass, whether on any hormone supplement. In this case, the creatine is quite low which is not necessarily a problem. Glucose can normally be higher in young children, so not a problem. A pediatrician or endocrinologist can tell you more if fasting glucose of 134 in a 2 yr old is a problem? ...Read more
My blood urea is 26 mg/dl and my creatinine is 1.1 (12hrs fasting). I am 49yr old healthy male. My bun:creatinine ratio appears to be high. Clarify.?
My lab test results says. Bun/ creatinine ratio results 28, units h, reference interval lab 8-20. Can someone please tell me what this means.
What are the results: Of BUN and creatinine? Ratios often distort the meaning of raw values. All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that one needs to know the actual values to provide an opinion. ...Read more

Iv taken 3 positivepregnancy test, went for blood test results and dr needs to see me. What are the possible complications/ thing wrong?
Complications?: The doctor needs to see every woman who has become pregnant and expects to deliver a baby in the near future. We don't expect complications just because a woman is pregnant (pregnancy is considered a normal state of being for women of childbearing age). However, being pregnant is riskier for the individual than being non-pregnant, but without pregnancy we would have no children. ...Read more
