I have been suffering from yeast infection and oral thrush, now diagnosed with gastritis. Blood test came back negative for H. Pylori. What do I do?
Several causes: For gastritis, H. Pylori is one of them, testing negative for it doesn't mean you don't have gastritis, treatment for thrush is available and handy, but why did you get it is the question? Could be due to steroids, which can cause gastritis too, your doctor would prescribe you medicines for both conditions, take care ...Read more
Endoscopy showed gastritis in pre pyloric entrum. Blood test showed h.Pylori positive, given antibiotics, but still pain in upper left stomach?
Erosive gastritis. H.pylori blood test positive, breath test positive, stool antigen test negative, biopsy negative. What to do?
Treat it: The positive H. pylori antibody test is not a reliable indicator of current infection. The gold standard for H. pylori treatment is the gastric biopsy, and this is negative in this patient. However, I am impressed by the positive breath test and erosive gastritis. I would have expected stool antigen to be positive, as it mirrors the breath test. Given the discrepant results, treat the patient. ...Read more
Brown stool with yellow mucus/liquid. Normal blood test. Normal colonscopy. Endoscopy showed mild gastritis. I also have oral thrush?
Visted ER for spitting a lil blood, after a night of drinking, doc did a rectal test for blood, results negative, gastritis, now I'm having black stool?
Go back to ER: If the doctor only did a rectal soon after you threw up blood, then it was too soon for the blood to have made it to your colon. He did not check your stomach for blood? If you are having black stools, or are dizzy, go to the ER again. No more drinking for you, cowboy! ...Read more

Persevere-vague prob: For vague abd/GI probs other helpful tests: stool analysis for infection, eval for food allergy (try elimination diet), and colonoscopy. Can I relax about cancer? Urq disc.&occ floating stool. Normal blood/stool tests, CT scan, colonoscopy, ultrasound and hida scan, endoscopy=gerd/gastritis
I'd relax for now: Your pain and stool fat changes sound like gall bladder disease, though proven not present. Was the gerd region biopsied? If so and negative, your comprehensive and perhaps more than appropriate workup shows within the limits of present technology, you don't have a detectable cancer. Longstanding gerd can be a pre-cancerous change over the years however and may warrant future follow-up endoscopy. ...Read more

Why are you worrying: No great answer except that digestive symptoms are common at your age and related cancer is not. Most cancers do not cause your symptoms but some can affect digestion. I've been eating healthy but continue with persistent nausea, gas, and loose stools. Stools are brown but formless resembling aerated soil and sinks rather than floats. EGD, blood tests, CT scan, X-rays all normal. Diagnosed with mild gastritis.
Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if you may be depressed. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity at tolerated. ...Read more

DHEA S blood test was 156. Is this a normal/average test result for 42 yr. Old female otherwise healthy?
Clinical Context: It is important to interpret test results knowing what unit of measurements are being used. Before commenting whether or not a test is normal the doctor should know the clinical context ---Who, when and why was the particular test ordered. Without knowing that info then isolated numbers are less useful. Based on the limited info here this number is in the normal reference range. ...Read more
