What's A1c?: Hi. Not enough information. We need to know your A1c stably on that regimen for 3-4 months. However, with at least some of your sugars around 200, there's a good chance your control is suboptimal and you are at a higher risk of long term complications. A blood sugar level of 1000 requires you to have IV dextrose, why?

A blood sugar level of 1000 requires you to have IV dextrose, why?

I understand how too much sugar leads to weight gain. How exactly does it affect blood sugar level and why doesn't natural sweetner like stevia do that?

Calorie in / out: After all the mumbo-jumbo and semi-science, weight loss / gain is totally about calories in (hunger, appetite, food choices) and out (basal metabolism, exercise, malabsorption / maldigestion, more). Blood sugar levels reflect the amount in transport and relates very little to recent intake or to weight loss / gain; the synthetic sweeteners aren't really sugars. ...Read more

After the fever settles down, after you become better overall, after a wk or so from now,get your fasting blood sugar checked. Any family h/o Diabetes? ...Read more

Studies say artificial sweetner can lead to weight gain and/or increase blood sugar level(Src:'sugar substitute' in wiki).Does Stevia has same effect?

Studies say artificial sweetner can lead to weight gain and/or increase blood sugar level(Src:'sugar substitute' in wiki).Does Stevia has same effect?

Absolutely, however: mechanism of weight gain/?ed blood sugar clearly not the artificial sweeteners per-se. Far more likely the issue is supporting/promoting behaviors of seeking sweet tastes & eating more carbs while thinking this would be OK, compensated for by the artificial sweetener. Tiny imbalances, over time, can produce significant changes in body fat. ...Read more

No specific question: The fasting blood sugar results you are providing do indeed point to diabetes. Are you under the care of a physician and being treated for the diabetes?
