Keep taking enough fiber in diet with vegetables, fruits (including dry fruit, figs and prunes) lots of liquids and avoid constipating foods (dairy products, banana, red meats etc). Not Necessary: Get a half of pediatric glycerin suppository and insert it into her rectum (butt). This will coat the stool and help it to slide out. The blood if it is bright red, is from the straining. In the future add 1/2 jar of baby prunes to her diet and avoid rice cereal and bananas for the time being. Good Luck! ...Read more

Cancer unlikely: If there was pain with passing the stool, it is most likely a small anal fissure or hemorrhoid that bled, especially if the stool looked normal otherwise. I suggest giving plenty of fluids, high fiber foods and/or stool softener for the next week. If bleeding continues have it checked out. Possible polyp. Colitis is associated with mucous and loose stools and colon CA rare in children. ...Read more
