The fact that you notice this most often after urination means that you must be most suspicious that there is some type of bloody discharge coming from the urethra/urinary tract. It : It sounds like the person in question would benefit from a urinalysis. This need to be done in a doctor's office. Things like ketones, protein, glucose, white blood cells, etc. Are measured. Often times a chemical odor or fruity odor can indicate ketosis which can be caused by diabetes or a very low carb diet. However, it is very diffucult to say without an evaluation.
