Blood Smells Like Iron
My blood smells like iron. And the viens on my stomach are visable around my liver area. Any clues on this?
My daughter is 8 &has chronic itp. She takes promacta (eltrombopag) and iron. I'm noticing that when she sweats it smells like sweet iron or blood. Any idea why?

I'm not anemic but my iron level won't go above 10.5 which iant high enough to give blood which I would like to do any suggeations?
Anemia: Is 10.5 your hemoglobin level? Either way whether this is your hemoglobin level or your iron (ferritin) level. The level is low and indicates that you are anemic. If you do have iron deficiency and you don't respond to oral iron then you probably should get intravenous iron. Discuss firther with your md. What units?: If this was measured in micrograms per deciliter, you are very low, probably iron deficient, and need to address why -- this may be from monthly loss, loss from pregnancy, vegetarianism, blood loss from hookworm or a GI ulcer or malignancy, or some other cause.
