No: Nosebleeds caused by high blood pressure is a myth. He should have his nose examined for polyps, ulcers, or erosions and he should have a blood sample obtained to check his platelets and clotting but most likely, it dry forced heat air causing his nasal mucosa to dry out and crack. Several possibilitie: Von villebrand disease, dessication, cocaine, deviated septum, foreign body, polyp, nasal telangiectasia (hereditary/congenital or acquired), nasal allergies, hypertension, blood dyscrasias, thrombocytopenia, uremia, medication side effects can all cause epistaxis. Seek medical care with your family physician first and a specialist as needed (ent, hematologist, allergiologist/immunologist) asap. ...Read more

Cauterize: This sounds very disruptive! Most likely its a brittle vessel high up in the nose. See an ENT who can cauterize it and check for anything suspicious up there. ...Read more

It : It is certainly not normal to have nosebleeds daily. Most nosebleeding situations should resolve with a few days unless there are other underlying problems. Some of these predisposing conditions include deficiency of clotting factors, high blood pressure resulting in rupture of the vessels, trauma to the nasal membranes, sinus disease, vascular lesions, or rarely tumors of the nasal passages. Your husband's condition should be evaluated by an ENT specialist promptly. Besides treating any underlying condition, prolonged bleeding can lead to anemia which can then lead to other complications. ...Read more

Not likely: If her nose were bleeding internally it would appear in her mouth. She probably has some rawness that may be causing the smell. Also make sure she doesn't have a foreign object stuck in her nose. use a salt water nose spray to get out dried blood and also help prevent future nose bleeds ...Read more
