If you have a concern that it might not be, ask when it was last calibrated or have it checked manually. You could try checking it at more than one store and see if the readings are similar, too. White coat htn: Is common and is NOT benign. Long term out comes of pts with whitecoat htn are not as good as pts with normal bp justifying the basis for medical treatment. Having said that. Its important to check your machine against docs machine and keep a home journal. Daily morning readings to use as basis for medical therapy if needed. My blood pressures rises to 140 /100. My ers report is 4. Last night local dr advice to take surbex z tablet daily with dinner. Any better advice.
Need workup: If your blood pressure is eradically shooting to 140/100s at the age of 25, you may need further workup if this is far off your baseline you need both a cardiac workup and a ct or ultrasound of your abdomen to make sure you do not have adrenal tumors. BP medication can be prescribed after finding out why BP rises sharply. May be anything from anxiety to pheocromocytoma. Get workup.Hope that helps! ...Read more

Yes, from diarrhea: Both lactitol & ispaghula (psyllium) can be used to treat constipation.Side effect can be diarrhea; if too much fluid is lost, blood pressure can drop& this much dehydration is dangerous.Symptoms include lightheadedness when standing.If unable to keep down enough liquids to compensate, get seen ASAP.
