Spotting on bcp: Hi ThaniaM, this could be because you are pregnant so I would wait a week and recheck and again a week after that. If preg test still negative you could either stay off bcp and re-start in 3 months or see OB GYN and get a stronger pill for 3 months and the drop dose to low dose. This should settle. See GYN: At 49, unless your having unprotected sex, and think you may be pregnant, you may be starting menopause. The upt's are very sensitive and almost as good as a blood test for hcg, however if you see your gyn, that would most likely be included in blood tests for menopause as well.
