Blood In Urine In 70 Year Old
My dad is age 70. He has left flank pain, blood in urine, constipation. His pcp prescribed cipro (ciprofloxacin) even tho urinalysis came back neg for wbc. Help!?
See a urologist.: For now, I would not discontinue the medication as prescribed, as there might be other information that indicates infection. Hopefully a urine culture was sent, which will confirm the diagnosis. Blood in the urinary tract should be evaluated, however, and I recommend seeing a urologist who can perform a full evaluation with history, physical exam, and urine testing. Read more

Not Normal: Likely it is not a big issue. Repeat and make sure they look under the microscope for red blood cells. The dipstick can be positive with muscle breakdown, certain dyes in foods and other conditions. If blood cells present you should be evaluated for bladder cancer especially if you smoke or work in the chemical industry. In addition a kidney ultrasound to rule out kidney cancer is reasonable. My 13 year old daughter has had all appendicitis symptoms and some gstones symptoms, but I just saw a little streak if blood in urine.?
Not sure what you: Mean by 'has had symptoms' of appendicitis. If you suspect she has appendicitis then she needs to go to er. Waiting longer will just make her sicker. I'm sure a detailed workup there can rule out acute conditions such as appendicitis and cholecystitis. Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Blood in urine from injury. Should I take my son to the ER or to the doctors office? My 14 year old plays baseball and was hitone in the lower spinal area and then again in the left back rib area by bad pitches from a 16 year old pitcher (pretty hard).
91 year old male with pain on left side about hip level but towards the back. No blood in urine. Could this be a kidney stone on Coumadin and flomax (tamsulosin). He has a huge protate and does not hydrate enough.
Here are some. ..: Clinically, I agree with my colleague stating musculoskeletal origin as a culprit for pain as described. For a 91-year-old man, bring the detailed info on his voiding history and pain near left hip & lower back stressing their quality, quantity, and sequence of events over time to Doc for analysis, physical exam, & tests such as residual urine, urinalysis, renal function, etc. So to define cause Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

My 9 yr old has slightly elevated leukocytes in urine and blood, with small micro blood in urine also. Various symptoms for years, should I worry?
Urinary findings: A few red and white blood cells in a prepubertal girl's urine usually is indicative of poor hygiene and poor wiping technique leading to peri-urethral irritation and thus the findings in the urine. So no, I wouldn't worry about those findings. However, you mention various symptoms for years - these may be worth worrying about if they are affecting her lifestyle and thus would need investigation. Read more
Is blood in urine 7mm3 worrisome for a 65 years old woman? Urine test, culture, CT scan of bladder, all came out negative. Wha t else could it be?
Hematuria: The work up should inculde a Urinalysis with C&S, CT Urogram (to assess the whole collecting system including the kidneys and ureters and bladder and Urethra), and finally a Cystoscopy which will asses the superior aspect of the Bladder that may not be completely visualized on the CT Urogram.
