Here are some. ..: Clinically, I agree with my colleague stating musculoskeletal origin as a culprit for pain as described. Blood in urine reoccuing UTI CT scan 3mm kidney stone bladder ultra sound scan shows bladder not emptying proper what could this be?
Cystitis.: Gross hematuria probably as a result of cystitis caused by the bladder outlet narrowing or stenosis and not because of the kidney stone. Absolutely: The very fact that the "stone" scraping along on the inner aspect of the ureter (the tube from the kidney to the bladder) causes pain also means that it can be abrasive enough to the inside of the ureter to cause bleeding as well. Indeed, bleeding is a very common occurrence during the passage of a kidney stone. ...Read more

Diagnosed with kidney stones over year ago that are to large to pass and now have blood in urine. Should this be a concern?
I've been diagnosed with nonalcoholic fatty liver, have multiple kidney stones. I have blood in urine for 5months now its bright red blood, no ins.
Blood in urine: Kidney stones can cause plenty of problems and can cause some blood in the urine. But bright red blood in the urine is a possible sign of something worse, such as bladder cancer. If you are unable to get in to see a urologist, you should consider going to an E.R. Btw, ultrasound is terrible at diagnosing kidney stones. You need a ct-urogram and cystoscopy. ...Read more

Went to ER for severe lower right ab pain and back pain. Dr said I had kidney stone and hematuria. Did urine and blood tests only but no cat scan, why?
See answer: Though symptoms and u/a may be suggestive, one cannot reliably make the diagnosis of a kidney stone without some type of an imaging study (kub, ultrasound, ct) with a non-contrast ct scan being the most accurate and reliable imaging study to determine the presence, location, and size approximation of a stone as well as to potentially rule out other causes of pain and hematuria. ...Read more

Cat scan shows kidney stones in both kidneys. Largest 10mm right side. Had on and off dull low back pain and blood in urine. Can they cause damage?
Yes: If the kidney stone blocks the flow of urine from the kidney, you can get permanent kidney damage, but that can take weeks to happen and is associated with severe pain. Also, kidney stones can become infected from pyelonephritis (kidney infection - not a typical urinary tract infection (uti)) and be challenging to treat. Please see your health care provider and consider a referral to urology. ...Read more

Have pain every time I urinate, test negative for infections. I have UTI symptoms, flank pain, history of kidney stones but no blood in urine, help?!
May still be a UTI: Usually, pain on urination (dysuria) is a symptom of a UTI from which the offending bacteria can be grown from the urine. Less commonly dysuria can occur from the irritation of passing a kidney stone alone (i.e. Not a uti). In other situations, the laboratory can't isolate the microbe because it's too difficult to grow in culture (e.g. Chlamydia)- in that case, you may still actually have a uti. ...Read more
