Many causes: Sounds like the tests you had were 11 yrs.ago. There are many causes of blood in the urine. You need radiographic study:CT-IVP as an initial study to find the cause of bleeding. Blood in urine march & sept. Last year. ALL tests ok in september(including 2 cystoscopies)
Now, again bloodin urine&semen. Testing needed? (age: 20)
See below : The standard evaluation of visible blood in the urine (aka gross hematuria) is U/A, blood tests, renal imaging (CT urogram preferred), and cystoscopy in order to determine cause and/or whether hematuria is renal (glomerular) or non-renal in origin. Cause can be elusive and often self-limiting with good prognosis if all tests negative. Consider IgA nephropathy, hypercalciuria, posterior urethritis. ...Read more
Small to medium blood in urine for 6mo, told it's no concern. Cystoscopy normal. Urologist wants to see me in 6mo. What else can it be? Worried
Sometimes excercise: Can cause small amounts of blood in the urine. Your urologist is correct that it is probably not anything to worry about. She/he is also correct to follow up with you to see if it is still there in 6 mos in which case additional testing (for example imaging of the kidneys) might be indicated ...Read more
I had blood in urine 2days in 2000. I've, cystoscopy, prostate all normal. Month ago 3 times blood in urine. Urine looks ok. Waiting for apt. Likely cause?
Possibilities: Blood could be from one of the kidneys, a renal pelvis, an ureter(less common), the bladder or the prostate. For anyone to guess without test results would be meaningless. Most likely your first test will be a CT-IVP with contrast. Good luck to get good news soon. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

An f/u visit w/urologist in jan. Showed I had blood in urine again. Had cystoscopy done last week & was told i likely had an ureterocele. Implications?
Depends ?obstruction: Ureteroceles usually dianosed by bladder ultrasound. No intervention unless ureterocele is causing any significant obstruction evidenced by hyrdonephrosis (kidney swelling) on that side. Is it simple single system ureterocele or ectopic with duplex kidney? Simple cystoscopic incision, to allow uretrocele to drain. Why not done at cysto? M 82 saw dr for blood in urine. Given abiotic & schedule cystoscopy in 2 wks. Blood quantity has incrsd. Greatly. Go to ER or wait & call dr. Am?
Increased hematuria: You should have your mother go to the er. Passing a large amount of blood in her urine is not due to an uti. She is also on metropolol, which would lower her pulse rate, which could lower her BP more if she bleeds a lot. Take her to the er and have her hemoglobin and blood pressure checked if the amount of blood in her urine has increased, as you state, greatly. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My husband was having blood in urine without pain hospitalized CT scan cystoscopy done found polyp sent for histopath low grade malignancy?
I think: I think you mean he had a low grade blad tumor. He will need periodic cystoscopy to check for recurrent tumors. Every 3 mth for the first yr. If no recurrence, every 6 months for 2 more years. If no recurrence, annually thereafter. Kidney pelvis(both) and ureters will be checked with CT-IVP with contrast once yrly bec the lining epithelium is same as the bladder epithelium. Nero found lesions on my mri. Said i probably have ms. Tomorrow I'm having a cystoscopy for blood in urine. Are MS and bladder problems linked.
My consultant wants to see me for a cystoscopy and scan of my kidneys, had 12mths+ of blood in urine, no infection, pelvic pain Which scan will he do?
Likely CT scan: Your consultant will likely order a CT scan without and with intravenous contrast, including some delayed images about 5 minutes after contrast administration to get the best assessment of the kidneys, ureters (given history of hematuria) and other abdominal and pelvic organs. I get hemorraghic cystitis when I get an uti. Had cytoscopy — red and inflamed. Dr. Also wants MRI of kidneys. Always have blood in urine. Clue why?
Other causes: When you had acute hemorrhagic cystitis it was documented by cystoscopy & you were symptomatic. But you say you "always"have blood in urine. Whether it is microscopic or visible to the eye it is still blood. This is why your doctor wants radiographic study because there are many causes of hematuria above the bladder which will not show at cystoscopy. Go ahead with doctor's advice.
