Immediate evaluation: You need to be seen immediately! To to your primary care doctor or ER and get blood work, X-ray, and will most likely need a Cat Scan (CT) of your sinuses. You are right: What you're describing certainly does sound like a sinus infection. The blood in your mucous can happen especially when there's a lot of inflammation in your nose. There is difficulty diagnosing bacterial sinusitis by symptoms alone but if symptoms are present >10 days, fever >102 with pus for first 3-4 days of symptoms or worsening of symptoms following viral infection - you may have a bacterial infection. Good chance: After nine days and with the facial pain developing, it is certainly possible that you have a sinus infection. Even so, it is still possibly viral if you are a non-smoker. I would see your doctor or urgent care tomorrow and in the meantime, try the neti-pot or nasal saline spray, ibuprofen and dayquil/nyquil. ...Read more
