Started having pain near anal opening after a bout with the flu. Can feel lots of soft bulges when I have bowel movement. No blood. Hemorrhoids?
The veins in the rectum can swell and become puffy when a person has frequent pressure on them from pushing out a bm. This is constipation. The swollen veins can burn, itch, or sometimes become severely painful (from a clot building up inside). Veins in the rectum are called hemorrhoidal veins and the sick, stretched out vein ...Read more
How can you tell the difference between blood from stools or blood from hemorrhoids? Just wondering.
How do I tell if the pain coming from my butt is sciatica or an internal thrombosed (blood clot) hemorrhoid?
No: Once a hemorrhoid has clotted, best option is to have it surgically removed. It will eventually shrink and resorb the blood leaving behind a tag but in the meantime the clotted hemorrhoid will be very painful and inconvenient. Other possibilities could be inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's or ulcerative colitis; or anal/rectal cancer. It's important to have Dr. do a rectal exam; possibly have a look inside rectum with a scope and take biopsies. Good luck! ...Read more

Hello. : Hello. Hemmorrhoids are like sacs and can feel squishy (or even hard if there is a clot inside). They can become quite painful and they can also cause anal itching. It isn't the best idea to squeeze hemmorrhoids as you are injuring the skin. Hemmorrhoids contain blood. They can swell up (like if you have lots of constipation) or they can shrink down over time. I recommend that you see your family doctor who can properly diagnose your conditions and provide you a number of options for handling this. When hemmorrhoids become really problematic people may see a general surgeon for help. Take care. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
