FBS: I presume you have type 1 diabetes given your age. My apologies if your doctor has said you have type 2 diabetes and he is correct. Very unlikely unless you are substantially overweight. You should check your blood sugar almost all day if you have type 1 diabetes. There is excellent safe equipment for continuous blood sugar control. Normal fasting: 65-105 when drawn out of a vein while fasting. Various authorities have different "normal" levels. There are, however, no exact cut-offs, it's all a continuium. Finger sticks are not accurate enough for diagnosis. Two hour post meal should be less than 130-140, and any glucose >200 at any time suggests diabetes. Yes!: You are def a diabetic. Get a glucose meter and check some fingersticks. Completely NL in the AM fasting is 70-100. 101-125 is borderline, >125 is diabetes. Go see a diabetes doc and get an A1C test. Normal is up to 5.7. Pre-diabetic is 5.7 - 6.4. Diabetes is >6.4.
